Scene Loading Times

    Is it just me or have scene loading times gotten a lot slower this release?

    It's not you (for once)... loading times have decidedly moved in the wrong direction.
    I'm sure they know it, and are working on overall optimization - obviously including scene loading.

    Yes lots of bugs from the new fixes. I do think the team will have a lot to come back to. I wonder if they will thank us *sighs* j/k.

    I felt they were much slower also, but I didn't have any metrics for proof.

    There's been a noticeable slowdown in assets loading within scenes (NPC and POT at the least on my system), and transitioning into scenes (w/ the latter definitely standing out). Anyway the larger time save for me was the change from 5-10 minutes to load the game down to 1 minute or less after they fixed or adjusted whatever was causing that specific load issue.

    The crazy thing is, when R37 first came out, the boat travel between Brittany <-> Kingsport was super fast. I KNOW I'M NOT CRAZY!

    Oh, and it's not confined to scene loading....
    Once I'm in my POT (finally), it now takes much longer for the banker to load my bank inventory. Seriously longer than it has previously.

    But..... I'm not overly concerned, since I'm quite sure that they realize all of this.

    The last thing they need, is for us to start screaming at them about it.
    We just need to keep them aware of all of it from our perspective....

    I'm confident they'll get it right - in the end.
    After all, the success of SotA depends on it. ;)

    Mh. Thought it was my incredible crappy connection and not an overall problem.

    What got much faster in my opinion is the REloading of a scene.
    The first loading takes much longer but the second time you load it it's rather quick.

    Yeah, it is definitely taking much longer to load each scene now (often 5-10 minutes :eek:) Reloading the scene also seems to take nearly as long (for me at least...) :(

    Same here. If the second 50% of the load was as quick as the first 50% I'd be smiling. I've noticed that the percentage counter jumps to 50% almost immediately then sits there for a while, then it starts counting slowwwwly up. I thought only Microsoft had that problem, hehe.

    I moved SotA on a SSD after the patch and wonder that it is no more faster, but reloading and e.g. basement - house - basement ist faster for me too. but hard to compare because of the SSD move.

    It will be fixed. If the game launches with scene loading times like we have now it will be dead in the water. Portalarium is well aware of that and will fix it as if their economic livelihood depended on it. Because it does.
