Pre-order Richard Garriott's memoir Explore/Create to receive $20 off Shroud of the Avatar

The new Update banner has a link to a deal from HarperCollins, which allows you to attach your receipt from a preorder of the memoirs of @Lord British and you'll receive "a $20 coupon off your purchase of the Shroud of the Avatar game".

I'm not sure exactly what this $20 coupon is, whether it is similar to the Alienware coupon (only valid for pledge credit) or gives you a Add-On Store gift certificate. Either way, I'd pre-ordered this way back in 2014 so I went ahead and sent in my receipt from Amazon.

Note however that you need to attach an IMAGE of the receipt, not the PDF you can easily download from every retailer doing business today. What I did was save the PDF from Amazon, then take a snapshot of it from within Reader and past it into an image editing program. Hopefully that works.

Hmm, well you can pre-order the hardcover, ebook or unabridged audio directly from HarperCollins, but there are also links on that page to Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books-a-Million and IndieBound, so thats a little vague.

 

That's why I asked, I thought the same thing.

I'll just get it with my kindle and see what happens.

 

The publisher doesn't really specify any limitations in this regard, so it probably is ok... but I'm trying to confirm for you guys.

The HarperCollins promo is only for people in USA.
The shipping and customs costs had probably eaten up the promo amount anyway if one lives in Europe.

Luckily the book can be (pre)ordered from amazon.co.uk as well, for us europeans, no customs costs yet from there, unless I am mistaken.
Perhaps we'll have to shift to amazon.de if/when that changes - I noticed now the book is available there too.

 

I am also interested in the answer to the OP question... is the coupon good for $20 off the game (which most of us here already have) or is it good for $20 off anything in the store (i.e., store credit)?

 

I ordered two signed copies from here in september http://www.bookpeople.com/book/9780062286659 . I wonder if I can apply the coupon retroactively?

 

I Pre-ordered from Amazon and Successfully submitted an image of my receipt, But I am still waiting for any kind of reply from Harper.
I am also curious as to how I can spend the credit when or If I get it.

Well I did purchase it before the 10th......seems I should be able to verify that and receive the store credit somehow. Easily enough proven a pre order via the invoice.

My guildmate said he received a 20 credit he can op to send to anyone or use himself.
