    Field Trip!!!

Mark your calendars folks, Occupy Rats Nest (ORN) begins now. If BDF won't come out for PVP, we'll just have to take it to him.

@Baron Drocis Fondorlatos , wear something worth looting :)

NM I found ya, you have a lovely view from way up here, but you may want taller walls.

Nice place, screenshots dont do it justice. If the walls were 1 or 2 feet higher, you would be impenetrable.

Do we actually have any responsibility to report things as bugs when we don't actually know those things are bugs? We have assume a lot with this game...since Portalarium is routinely opaque in exactly how things are supposed to work.

It's not my fault you'll just leave your guy there with pvp flagged, and go afk. If this was a game like UO, I would literally take everything I can from your bag.

How many times could I do that to someone? Probably only once. Because after that they don't afk with a bunch of stealables, somewhere they can be not only be stolen from, but also killed and looted.

    But this isn't UO. Lol

I think that thieving is a very important aspect of the game. And I hope to see it ironed out so we can all enjoy game play.

I do not think you have to report. But you certainly are not allowed to use exploits, and if you happen to stumble on something suspicious, it is better to report it as bug. Or at the very least ask if it is bug or intended gameplay mechanic. Somehow I think that devs might be more benevolent when dealing with you if you reported the broken thing instead of keeping it secret.

Simple fix, introduce the Snoop skill. Selecting an item they click on their steal button. Depending on the weight of the item is relevant to their thieving skill. Done.. No I don't like thieves.. they should all be beheaded.. but that is their choice. Don't take away what little fun they may find in a game.

Pick Pocket was "over nerfed" for sure.

...and lower the chances of the Snoop skill succeeding if the target is moving.

I always chuckle when I see people complaining about something that happened in PvP when the PvP flag is completely optional. Danger and risk accompanies PvP, including the occasional grief. I can't even count how many times I was killed, looted or griefed over the years in many PvP games; it only made me learn how to deal with it that much quicker. And especially in UO where there were a LOT of semi-intended quirks... that's what makes the risk fun IMO.

The thing is, even if you go afk and get cleaned out.. you don't lose all your stuff.. you keep all of your best items (equipped) and you buy the rest back for a sometimes laughable price like 6gp for a top tier pet or 4gp for a dungeon key.

In addition to the luck of the draw as a theif, you also have to get lucky that the item is anywhere near a ransom price worth paying.

I also disagree with the logic that killing an afk player, which a freshly rolled character can do, should be more rewarded (due to equipment slot guarantee) than someone who has worked to max level of thief class.

I am not saying we should go back to the old system neccessarily, but we clearly need some love. At minimum the theft ransom values need to be refigured, and perhaps skill level could impact the value, qty, or the weight of the item selected.

Not screaming death of the sandbox yet, but the first 6 hours of the telethon had me worrying we are going backwards in terms of sandbox gameplay.
Still watching the rest and I hope for better news ;)

    Wrong.

The kickstarter sold us on "Meaningful PVP", that's different than what you're talking about.

Devil's advocate: Who told you this?

You talk about others having distorted views about what PvP is really about yet you seem to have a really skewed one yourself.

    Why?

"Believing that you are stronger and smarter than any particular group of people just makes you that much dumber than the rest."
