Wait, hold on. I've got this figured out.
The real problem here is that we have people in Multiplayer mode. And they are starting to do stuff besides grinding! Like write and promote books!

But don't worry, just keep on grinding away in Single Player like a good little Avatar, and it will all pass...

 

It's allways anoying, but i often press N to circumvent to read such names of chars like iown urmom.

 

I can't imagine what one might do while driving down a street. If this is an issue we probably need to delete all signs in the game as well. We really wouldn't want people to know where things are.

 

I love the way COE is handling this. They have a no tolerance policy on this stuff. If things are not named appropriately for the time/period then it is simply not allowed. They are seriously worried about the immersion in the world. Sota should also think this way, but YMMV.

Actually it would be interesting to have a game where you didn't even know players/pets names until you interacted with them, just like with NPCs And mainly rely on identifying people by their appearance.

Pet name space is limited, but one of the few amusing things in a group that causes a laugh.

How do you intend to police this? lol.

I guess you can make pets not summonable on world map? Not a hard fix. But then no mounts on world map, as they would be nameable.

Whats your solution and how would you *police it* ?

The issue itself is a small one tho, as the world map is limited enough.

 

As you can see the other comments and my all over all experience is.
The immersive fantasy rpg gamer is the minority.
Majority dont care.
I never understand what or why they are really playing and if they ever care about a setting.
Maybe we should add Cowboy Bundles and Alien Bundles and then...

As i said in the ' i dont grind thread' i pull myself out of many things to have fun playing the Game.
Many things majority does kills my fun.
This isnt the biggest issue but names what are really out of content can be really anoying.

 

Unimmersive pet names are lame, the same goes for vendors, though on the other hand we do not have proper signs, when you have to mouse over them to see the name of the shop... So what are legal ways to advertise? Local chat? Forums (which is out of game and imho should be only used for store credit and real money transactions, not for ingame ones). I wish the game was immersive and the policies supported it, however one thing really missing is advertising making sense...barking vendors and notice boards and tipping bartender to react to some keyword (e.g. fireworks) and recommend your shop with directions (You can get fireworks at Net's Wizard Supplies in Westend*). I just think that we are missing ingame system to advertise goods and people are split to those who do not advertise at all and their trades are going badly and those who use the tools in place to advertise in unintended way.

* And to Westend they could react: "It is the westernmost town of continental Novia in swamps near Verdantis Shardfall." to provide directions to the shop's location.

 

Had an idea, not the best but....

I will setup some sheets of paper at my Vendor in Drachental connected to Drachenfels and from their to Dracheninsel with informations of where you can find people selling stuff and where are RP POI's or RPers live.
Maybe i'll rename Manfred Drake ( Mandrake Vendor) to
yelling: Informations, Meals and Reagencies

If you get to these 3 PoTs, Drachental is the first and i am outside the City rather the first house before you cross the River over the bridge if you enter the PoT regularly from OW.
So that's one of the first houses and Vendor if you visit these PoTs in an "immersive" way.
