The Light Spell looks awesome!

I love how it now looks more like a Tinkerbell-style twinkle rather than a fireball-type graphic. Awesome, awesome, awesome and gorgeous!

 

Would be cool if we could right click the glyph and cast light on a piece of clothing/weapon so we didnt need to have that floating orb.

 

I agree, the new twinkling spark is really wonderful, but could we have it floating higher above the avatar rather than drifiting behind their head. The more intense light is quite dazzling in it's current position and everything that does (walks, runs, harvests, etc.) is in shadow.

 

Aye, much more pleasant. I have already double my use, instead of night vision. if now it will shine in my path ahead of me better.

 

Went back to light from nighvision.

 

Alright, now we gotta make torches more useful!
Off hand weapon?

 

Yes, that's been bothering me for a long time, 'why bother with a torch when you have a light spell that costs nothing?'. Would be good to think of a clever way to make torches important as it does look great to see players and NPCs carrying torches.

 

How about spells that cast groovy effects on the flames of our torches?

They could be a bludgeon weapon that deals less damage than an actual weapon but with an on hit chance to set mobs on fire.

 

A torch could have special uses. It could be used to start a campfire how to light another torch or candles. It could be used if you want to look closer at something for example a body on a crypt and whats this? there is a small shiny item. It could be used to light the fuse on fireworks. Also it could be symbolic for all carrying them on a particular day. Like lighting a torch for some reason to light a candle even.

Now they need to work on its positioning.

 

A few ideas...

Impact aggro. Have some creatures be afraid of fire but attracted to magical light and vice versa.

A real flame could in a special circumstance reveal secrets.

A torch in one hand combined with potion / spirit could be required to perform a non-magical fire breath attack

An off handed torch during a melee attack could have a % chance of igniting the enemy

Increase focus cost and decrease the duration of the light spell
