We are looking to fill in more of the scene loading suggestions and tips that you currently see every time a new scene loads. TIPs can be scene specific, including for your own Player Towns!

If you have a general or scene specific TIP, please submit it here:

    https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfo3H7WTkOqfMjVXXcbn_sgoAh8oRnbjQc-W_CDHh8PCrP4nw/viewform

    Thanks TIPers!

P.S. - If you see a current live TIP that should be edited or removed, please PM me what we need to update.

CURRENT ACTIVE TIPS AS OF 8/14/2017 (Does not show exclusive scene attachment, though some of these are specific to a scene)
    • For a quick exit from most town scenes, look for the red wagons, balloons and boats.
    • The Catacombs in Soltown is a perfect place for new Avatars to earn Experience and Gold.
    • Death magic life drains become more effective as the caster gets closer to death.
    • Healing spells are more effective when the caster hasn't damaged anything recently.
    • Sun magic is most effective while the Sun is up.
    • Lunar magic is most effective while the moon is above the horizon.
    • To quickly loot a container or corpse, hover your mouse/reticle over it and press "E" to open it and then press "E" again to "take all".
    • Heavy armor is most effective against Fire, Death, and Air magic, and least effective against Earth, Life, and Water magic.
    • Shields aren't just for looks! They grant additional damage protection and when actively used with the Deflect skill they can stop melee, ranged, and even some magic bolt attacks!
    • Tired of getting your attacks blocked by that shield user? Try a pole arm, which can't be blocked by shields!
    • Ranged attacks can be dodged or blocked with a shield, but they cannot be parried.
    • Combine multiple defensive skills for maximum protection. Shield block, dodge, and parry make anyone more resistant to melee damage.
    • An astrolabe is a product of alchemy that can be used to observe the celestial bodies of New Britannia! It is a valuable tool for craftsmen, explorers, and magic users.
    • Pressing the jump key when rooted or stunned gives the player a chance to escape the disabling effect.
    • Some merchants will pay more for your loot than others. It pays to shop around in town when selling!
    • Parties gain an experience bonus that grows with the number of members in the party.
    • To sprint, press the forward-movement key twice quickly, then hold. But be aware that sprinting drains Focus.
    • You can swap between your equipped and alternate decks mid combat, even while running! Default hotkey is X.
    • Ready to try some more advanced combat techniques? Try making a new combat deck and leave some slots unlocked!
    • Unlocked slots in combat decks allow for faster reuse of some skills, but there is no guarantee that those skills will always be there when you need them!
    • When using unlocked combat decks, some glyphs can be combined to make completely new skills or spells!
    • When you kill another player in combat, you have the option to ransom some of the items that they were carrying, but store purchased add-on items and pledge rewards cannot be ransomed in this way.
    • It is not possible to teleport or recall if your character is encumbered.
    • For faster travel, equip your coconuts!
    • Players who forego the protection of the Oracle and expose themselves to player vs player combat (PvP) gain an experience bonus while adventuring.
    • Avatars that train in a given school of magic will become more attuned with that school and will be able to cast spells in that school more effectively.
    • When using an unlocked deck, you can combine two identical glyphs to create a more powerful version of that glyph. Do this by dragging one glyph onto the other.
    • In many cases, the Interact hotkey (defaults to E) can be used as an alternative to double-clicking with the mouse.
    • Shields are a great way to augment your defenses, even for mages.
    • You can improve your chance to successfully cast spells by equipping either a wand or a staff, or by remaining unarmed.
    • '. If you want to add an animation to it, type '/em %emotename%'"}">You can create custom emote texts in chat by typing '/em <text>'. If you want to add an animation to it, type '/em <text>%emotename%'
    • Training fewer skills will let those skills level faster.
    • Attacking from behind not only prevents the target from blocking or parrying but also greatly increases your chance of scoring a critical hit.
    • Blacksmith NPCs will pay more for your weapons and armor than some other types of NPCs. Be sure you're getting paid the most for your wares by checking around!
    • You can split a stack of items by holding down the SHIFT key and click-dragging on the stack you wish to split.
    • When approached by several enemies, many find it advantageous to take out the magic users and ranged attackers first!
    • Fighting spiders? Try jumping to shake off those pesky webs, but watch your focus!
    • Remember to carry food with you and eat something before combat. Different food provides different buffs.
    • On the overland map, you can avoid encounters by using coconuts (mounted). You can usually run faster than the Bandit, Wolf, or Skeleton.
    • Fight all you want, Portalarium will make more!
    • The bigger the weapon, the harder it hits, and the slower it swings.
    • Shroud of the Avatar has various modes of chat communication. Type /L to chat in the Local group, /G for Guild chat, /P to Party chat, /W along with the characters name, will allow for private messages, and /Z to chat to the entire Zone or Scene.
    • Merchants need sleep too! If the one you're after is missing, they could be asleep!
    • Consulting with the Oracle about your journey along the Paths of Truth, Love, and Courage could earn you 500 gold and XP per day.
    • Some resources such as Black Pearls, Garlic and Mandrake can be very hard to identify if you are in a hurry. Slow down and observe!
    • The "Gust" spell is used to repel monsters and other enemies. It is also used to play Gustball!
    • Crafting recipes can be bought, taught, or sought all over New Britannia from players and NPCs alike!
    • Blacksmiths, Carpenters, and Tailors have a Repair skill that allows them to repair armor better than just using a Repair Kit alone. Seek them out!
    • The Oracle protects you from being harmed by other players. You can visit her to revoke this protection, but beware the consequences!
    • When fishing, it pays to change spots occasionally!
    • Delivering regional mail for town criers is a great way to explore Novia and make a few coins!
    • Blank books can be purchased at book sellers in several major cities. You can use them to publish your own in-game works of writing.
    • You can jump higher if you hold down the jump key instead of just pressing it.
    • Eating food can help you recover health and focus more quickly.
    • Public Vendors are located in many towns and can be used to sell your items to other players or to buy items from other players. Each player can list up to 10 items for sale on each Public Vendor.
    • The entrances to most areas have skulls on a wooden stake. The more skulls, the more difficult the fights in the area will be.
    • Talking to the residents in the City of Love may teach you some new ways to show your friends some emote affection!
    • Look for boatmen around Ardoris to travel faster to key points of interest.
    • Not all Elves will attack you on sight; the Elves of Vertas are welcoming to well-mannered Outlanders.
    • You can travel much of Novia underground through a series of mines, sewers, crypts, and passageways.
    • To get extra gold, say "Hello" to the town crier in every town you enter for the first time. This includes player owned towns!
    • You can see all items stored in the bank at any bank location, but you can only withdraw the items stored at your current location.
    • Braemar is home to a singing rock. Can you find which one?
    • Elevation matters in combat! Attacking from a higher point can increase damage and attacking up can decrease damage. Watch out for those archers on the wall!
    • Nearly every hour on Earth is a day in Novia! Novian months are 28 Earth Hours long. Two weeks on Earth is about a year in Novia.
    • Crowns of the Obsidians are rare drops that can be traded for unique in-game items such as rare art, decorations, and potions of the Obsidians.
    • Chaos magic is both the most difficult to learn but also the most difficult to resist!
    • Hometown is a safe place to browse all the housing New Britannia has to offer. Visit frequently to help make a purchase decision, or for home decor inspiration!
    • The Mind Lock skill allows you to keep dealt glyphs for longer before they decay. This even works after you've combined glyphs together!
    • Secret doors and hidden walls can provide some unexpected adventures. Search for them as you explore!
    • Type '/z' in the chat window to talk in the zone-wide chat. Enable zone chat by clicking on the settings "cog wheel" on your current chat tab.
    • Typing '/visible' in the chat window is a useful command for taking screenshots, as it makes your character disappear (only for you.) Use the F9 key to toggle the game UI and F11 to capture a screenshot.
    • Remember to inspect the condition of your gear, and seek repairs from time to time.
    • What's a paladin?
    • The Great Cat Massacre of 497 PC was known for its terrifying fury and very loud noise, despite its short duration.
    • The mystic "Starrlton" dance is believed to have been introduced into Novia by chaos magicians seeking to confuse the unwary with its bizarre movements.
    • Trust the Oracle. The Oracle is your friend. The Oracle knows what's best for you.
    • All hope abandon ye who enter here...
    • Players with the Hospitaller title are often willing to help new players, so feel free to approach them and ask questions when you see them in game.
    • All Avatars start with a "New Player Handbook" in their inventory. Double click on it to open it for a quick review of in-game commands and hints.
    • Many guilds will scout Soltown for new player recruits. Don't be shy - joining a guild is a great part of the community experience.
    • Raw materials you harvest are often worth far more to other players than to NPC merchants. You can use public or player vendors to either list these items for sale or find purchase orders from players looking to buy.
    • You can learn new emotes by doing quests, learning from other avatars, or talking to the citizens of New Britannia.
    • Health and Focus regenerate much faster when not in combat mode, so be sure to sheathe your weapons (Z hotkey) after fighting to heal up!
    • Wells and fountains can be "examined" with right click. Toss in a coin!

@Berek Could we get a list of current live tips to avoid overlap and provide feedback on ones that are out of date?

Where it says enter your forum or character name, does it matter if your forum and character name are different? Will you guys be able to differentiate everything and get the information you need?

Public vendors are a pain, live in Soryn Fields, near Resolute and have access to town vendors for all your buying and selling needs!

This is only to recognize you at this point mainly as the contributor. Most people seem comfortable giving out their character name, so we'll go with that for all future entries.

That would be great instead of loading screens. Like star wars old Republic shows you traveling. It makes loading screens so much more immersive.

I do like the Loading Screen Idea of this Mod a player created for the Game Payday.

    Source: https://imgur.com/ZJmPUVb

    1. It shows the difficulty of the Zone you are entering with Sculls on the right side. - Would be helpful information for New Players trying out the Game

    2. It has a tip area.

    3. Instead of a Game Information a Zone Information would be nice for players to give usefull information saving maybe some time.

    For example:
Zone Type: POT, PRT, City, PvP Zone
Owner : incase of a POT
LOTS: Maybe during the Loading Time a Information can be shown how many Lots are free
NPC: Types of Vendors to be found

    4. A immersive description of the Zone - Some history, some rumors - a connective information to the lore of this Zone.

    Done.
