[Known] Bloody Bones quest will not complete

Title: Bloody Bones quest will not complete

Details: I have the necessary item being asked for, have talked to all 3 children, each eventually offers the turn-in dialog, but after the dragging the item to the right pane, the 'turn in' button does nothing, even though highlighted. (I started out with 3 copies, discarded down to one in case that was the issue. Also relogged between attempts.)
Steps to Reproduce:Get the necessary in loot, talk to the kids, find the right word to bring up the dialog window, end up frustrated.

make sure you're dragging the gold quest item copy, not a white deco items copy

 

Quest and deco items the same name, matching the turn-in dialog??? That's a bug right there.

 

they are 2 different books, but yes both have the same name, just gotta keep killing them untill ya get one to drop the gold quest item for you

 

It will not clear after turning in the quest version. I picked up two books-- one normal, one quest. I turned in the quest one. The quest did not clear.

 

Where did you pick up the non-quest version? There shouldn't be one laying around in the scene - that's a bug.

However, there is another book called The Tale of Mistress Valdis that can be found laying around in some parts of the scene. The two are very different. Are you sure you're not confusing the two?

 

Both were drops from kills.

 

@Traveller13 I looked at the loot drop bundle. There is the quest version of the Bloody Bones book and a regular, deco book called The Tale of Mistress Valdis. They're not the same book. I could not repeat having the reward version of the Bloody Bones book drop from an enemy Ebon Dawn, only the quest version and only ever 1 dropped. No others dropped while I had the one in my inventory. Also, I could not repro the quest not clearing after turning in the quest version of Bloody Bones. Maybe QA can repro this. @lex1001 @Serafina

WAIT! I found the problem! The deco book of The Tale of Mistress Valdis is named incorrectly! There's the bug! I'll take care of that.

That solves the mystery of two books being named the same. Will renaming the one book clear the quest?

 

No, but I'll put in a taskcomplete on the kids' responses post turning in the quest. It's a double check, of sorts.

And if for some reason that doesn't work, you can always go to a town crier and clear the task. I'm assuming you did get the reward version of the Bloody Bones book from the kid you turned it in to?

 

FYI on Sunday 11/19/17
I found the "The Tale of Mistress Valdis" as a drop from Mistress Valdis. However it was named "Ballad of Bloody Bones- The Servant to Mistress Valdis the Undying."
I later found the Yellow Quest version of the "Ballad of Bloody Bones" as a drop from an Ebon Guy at the Ritual site.
I was able to turn in the quest version.
I now have a copy of the True Ballad book as well as the misnamed book, I mentioned above, Tale of mistress Valdis.

I still have not found Mr Bloody Bones himself. I do hear bones creaking in one area but no moans or bloody footprints.

 

I was able to clear this quest by giving a copy of the quest version of the book to each of the three kids. Each was 4000XP and 250GP. It's off the books, now. Yea.

you find a well, next from the house with the friendly forgetful ghost. Walking further west, Elbon Cultists and Skeleton attacks. And with one of the Cultists is the Book "Ballad of Bloody Bones" ...

 

My three were drops from kills by the well as above, a cultist by a tree next to the ditch, and from Bloody Bones itself.

My book saga started here. I picked up the book and turned it into Lily. I received 4000XP and 250GP. The quest did not clear, as I reported in Post #5 of this thread. I'll have to check patch records, but I think a patch was made so it would clear. I picked up a second book from Bloody Bones itself. I turned it into Julie. I received 4000XP and 250GP. The quest did not clear. I picked up a third book and turned it into the boy. I received 4000XP and 250GP, and the quest finally cleared.
