exiting the game takes forever

If you've played the game for a long session (several hours), it takes 4-5 minutes for the game to quit. I.e., it takes substantially longer to get out of the game than it does to get into it. I play numerous graphically demanding games, and they don't have this issue, so it's something unique to SOTA. Perhaps problems with garbage cleanup on exit?

I've noticed that too - but it doesn't matter how long I'm playing. It will take a good 2 minutes for mine to shut down. This seems to have started a few releases ago.

 

If you watch the memory usage say through task manager - it almost seems like its shroud trying to clean up its memory leak (ongoing issue they keep trying to nail down), and windows trying to clean it up and they trip over each other. And a few releases (2ish?) it seemed the leak was getting worse/more prevalent. Normally around 2 minutes of waiting if you start clicking in the screen, hitting the red X some more, windows should call it a hung process and offer to full nuke it and go hyper aggressive cleanup. Not a good workaround, but might save a minute in shutdown...

EDIT:
Task manager kill process seems to be a more reliable/quick way to close it. That should be addressed, but a 'work around'.

Hm, are you using windows 8 compat mode?
