What's the purpose to wear them, if they are so weak compared to crafted highend gear?

Isn't it immersion breaking to you if you lets say wear them, but need to switch to crafted gear to be stronger in PvE and PvP?

Can we get patterns from them?
Eternal patterns and reshape the better crafted gear we use?

I mean, these things are to create your look, for RP purpose, but are useless compared to crafted gear.
So you need to switch to better gear and loose your look to not miss the boni of crafted gear to fight?

    Or am i missing something?

    EDIT: Title edited

question added: can telethon items be stolen and can i get it back by paying the ransom?

Yes you can and do get patterns from Them as Frost said. That makes them even more valuable. ;)

    Yes. That is the purpose.

But...check first. The tooltip will say if it contains an eternal pattern or not.
If you find one which doesn't say so in the tooltip then bug report it.

    @Stundorn

Just mouse-over the items and look if they carry an eternal pattern, ist stated in yellow at the bottom.
I for myself use the add-on store or telethon items for mining or harvesting in areas i dont need to wear the expensive crafted stuff, they never lose secondary durability.

Ok then the Witch Hat has no Pattern on it :(
I hope the new Ice Items like sword, staff and Wand have patterns to be able to reshape crafted gear.

    Does ist increase ransom?
    Anyone have experience with that.

I mean if you loose an item with eternal pattern you sure want to ransom it, but curious if then the price is higher.

For the Store items i think yes.

But unsure about Telethon items in general.

If you use the original gear, they can't be ransomed or stolen from you. They have that special add-on store yours forever guarantee.

However, if you salvage it for the eternal pattern and apply the pattern to a similar item, such as a leather armour eternal pattern on leather armour, then the item can be taken from you and would be subject to ransom. Applying the pattern to a different piece of armour or weapon negates the special status of the armor.

can it be stolen and i cannot get it back by oaying the ransom?

i just ask because we had this thread about mimimi i was flagged and afk and someone stole something from me.
If it all can be buyed back from the oracle to pay ransom, i twice dont get it why people are whining.
    But anyway...

Soo instead of saying - "Are telethon items protected like pledge items?" you opened up with an ambiguous question? You can change the title of the post and I can remove the off topic comment.

And in your first post you say NOTHING about items being stolen, sorry but?

Yes they can be stolen , and when you make a pattern the item you apply to can also be stolen.

ONLY pledges items are protected as far as I know at this time.

so can it be buyed back then?

just to say, if lets say i one day can salvage telethon gear to et a pattern from it or if i decide to use telethon gear and dont care for boni of crafted items and i would go to a PvP scene and i can loose it, this would be another cause to never ever PvP.
I want to f...ing play my character and stay iC ALL THE TIME, using the gear that represents what i want to be and if those items are only for Danceparties like Sempiternal Dragon says, that would be so annoying.

I'm doing compromises over compromises to like the game, really.
Have i donated and supportet Portalarium to not use this stuff in the game playing and especiall roelplaying it???
ALLWAYS! and not only at f....in danceparties!?!?!?!

    EDIT
    freaking

Yes: Every item can be bought back via ransom.

No: patterns don't significantly change the buyback cost.

Definitely bug the witches hat. There are also some things like the ballerina outfit and bunny-tail skirt which I think got missed.

I am perma-flagged and fight in a ~$50 quest hat.

This may be a surprise, but sometimes people want to look good for social time, rather than just throwing on whatever gear they found in a box somewhere, from no other choice than stats.

Just because it's not your style of play doesn't make it pointless.

Eternal Patterns (when available) let you apply the look of a store item to good armor. They should be on all store clothing (if not, bug report it as eli says). I don't know if telethon items provide patterns, but I don't recall that they do.

It is also my understanding that telethon rewards can not be ransomed, and should have "No Value" in their description. Note that store items bought from in-game COTO merchants have a value and are NOT immune to ransom. Also, applying an eternal pattern to an item does not make it immune to ransom.

So you want to roleplay someone who never changes clothes? Would you wear a tuxedo to combat, or clunky clanky armor to a formal dance?

I'm confused... do you NEVER change your clothing in RL? Wearing different gear for different things is not annoying for me, as it makes it more immersive and real to me.

and as far as ransoms go, anything that is ransom'd can be bought back if you check the 'price of the oracle'... if you have the gp!

    funny you are - really!

Yeah i usually pick my Motorcycle cloth not to ride, but to go to a party like i want my Ice Staff or my Witch Hat only wear at danceparties and while adventuring and RPvEing i choose do wear other cloth and use the gerenic staff.
Like Indy who allways chhose to wear his hat only at dinnerparties and not while he's adventuring.

    c'mon forget your arguments, really.

I got it, the new telethon things have patterns on it and i will use them to shape the crafted gear i use.
The Witch Hat has no pattern! Bug reported it.

Telethon Weapons and also some cloth arent for your mentioned socialing parties or are you dancing while in combat mode???
I think they are pretty fine to use while adventuring and showing what Type of character i am.

i got my questions answered. Thank you.
