I dont think they advertise it much. Maybe Social Media and some Interviews like they did for the last few years but nothing big. I also dont think they release it on March, i think there is another 3 Month delay after that and they start asvertising it on April. These "big" changes in combat and performance problems might be the reason for a delay. Hell, the havent even started manufacturing the physical goods. I dont know, i just cant see something big happening for the upcoming month

there is also the need to keep the player base... yes, they can do a massive marketing campaign and get 100,000 new players but if only 10 of them stays after the campaign to play then what's the point... sure... they'll get a lot of money from the initial purchases of the game but what about after that... anyway just sharing my thoughts as of the moment... :D

I think the massive advertising campaign will start when the devs start to focus on the offline mode of the game...

I'd bet the marketing campaign will come at the end of episode 2 :)

I think there is a Jira opened for it :)

    Oh buhuhu!
    Really everybody, get a grip.
We will see what will happen. Feel free to do ITYS posts here after we saw what happened.
But complaining about stuff that isn't ou to controll is rather pointless.

IMO the game will not be in a state by March that would justify a big ad spend. For most players, you only get one chance at luring them them into the game and them becoming retained users of the game. Better to wait until the game is in better shape, is getting better reviews, and is proven stable for a larger-than-current player base before a full-scale and sustained ad campaign.

Good points, you think they can postpone the advertising campaign to some other point in the future and still get the big bang for the buck out of it?

Usually "grand opening " type advertising is really productive dollars spent.

Reviews come at release. If SotA won't satisfy by then, it will be too late. If the reviews are bad, it will turn away players and reviewers won't touch the game afterwards. This is why launch is so important. It will be Judgement Day for the game, as I said many times before.

    Yes yes you did.
Now let's take a look at PLUNKBAT. A game with terrible terrible steam ratings (46% positive, thats even less than sota).
Non the less it's pretty much the most successful shooter ever.
So *shrugs* there go the reviews.

It's important to say that there are already some good examples of MMOs not getting too much attention at launch, following with bad reviews, and after a few years they are healthy enough to keep active and with a decent population.

I'd say PUBG is a phenomenon, like WoW. Something you can't predict und something that happens maybe once every decade.
Games following the formula of PUBG won't be as successful even if they won't differ much from the "original" because then the flaws will become apparent. But PUBG itself has climbed the throne and won't leave it and you can't even say how it happend...

Tell that to Fortnite, they seem to have missed that pice of info.
What i am trying to point out is that you can't predict anything. Not even if it is SotA ;-)

I see this sentiment a lot here. I'll continue to beat the dead horse by surmising that nobody working on this game wants to see it be "successful" enough to keep the lights on. That's not a success, that's existing. Millions of dollars from investors have been poured into this project - not one of those dollars would've been added if they had the goal of being healthy enough to keep active. People invest to make money, not to host a charity mmorpg people can play and enjoy it without the pesky benefits of other MMORPG's like, I don't know, earning money and being able to expand, grow, re-invest in itself, etc. There's dozens of people working their asses off right now to make this as successful as possible - I'd venture to say exactly zero of them are doing so thinking to themselves, "As long as the lights stay on..."

I'm not sure why I see the, "If it keeps the lights on, its successful!" mentality so much here, it's truly ridiculous and not helping anything.
