I agree on the XP pool cap... but I think the real problem would be botting accounts until they have > $100 of ore on them, then just eating the cost of activating it once it's guaranteed profitable on the highly liquid ore market, rather than trying to sell a bunch of bot accounts (good luck)

I think the weight limit could get annoying to legitimate players, but a limit of 500-1000 on each type of resource would probably be good enough and not too painful.

Probably been brought up before, haven't read everything here, but whats to stop Port from baiting a detected botting trial account by simply ignoring it until it becomes active then targeting the card used and banning it? Here's a few examples of how Port will win at this game.

1: Port detects a trial account that is found to be botting. They let it do so seeing as how it can't effect the economy yet.

2: Account gets activated, Port keeps track of transactions and they still wait.

3: Future banned account sells ore to get gold, then transfers gold to 'X'.

4: Account gets banned, 'X' gets banned, card used to activate initial account as well as 'X's card gets banned.

5: In the end, Port gets their money.

Seems like far too much work for extremely little gain. Nobody will buy accounts from you if you are simply selling the accounts once the first gets banned. Sounds like you might get 1 good deal out of it, assuming you aren't charged with credit fraud.

So, I get this is a thread to point out the potential problems with the "free version" of the game being offered. Where are the PvP people complaining that you are creating permanently unlootable alts that can spend all their time in the PvP zones getting the extra resources and pooling xp with reduced risk?

Please!! this would be amazing for pvp.

'Reduced risk' with 49 in every skill? With 49 AL? In a t5 zone?

This isn't directed at you per se, but to anyone who knows.

How do trial-upgrades work? Is that someone only Portalarium can do through Portalarium's system? From what I understand, even if you got your hands on a $5 account from someone else, there's no particular way to use it to upgrade a trial (but I haven't gone through the process, so I'm not clear on that)... and you'd still have to shell out the $40ish to "unlock" anything on it.

when you activate a steam code you buy you can then bind your trial account to it i believe, a few of my guildmates have purchased after a trial account and they did it with a steam key.

Actually, I could see "visitor" duels (and other sorts of PvP) becoming a thing. That "[Visitor]" tag is like a stamp of assurance that you can't exceed certain limits. Being forced to do this in a PvP zone (POTs and basements can be PvP too) would merely be a speed bump.

Does the trade restriction go both ways? Are players able to give you items or are you strictly prevented from using the trade window at all? This means you would have to do your own crafting on your own harvested materials, if you wanted to use any gear that didn't come off of an NPC. Note that skill 50 is just enough to start unlocking sub-masterworking, and isn't the cap supposed to be 50.0?

We've been talking exploits so far, but maybe now we can come up with some useful ideas too.

I would be very, very glad if you can do that.
Believe me, i'm the last one who dont want that.
The very last one, but i cannot imagine that this will happen.
I was an optimistic person, but life teached me about realism.
    Glad if i'm wrong.

    Absolutley agree.

I actually suggested the business model to them about a year ago.

You are going to make a small fortune for them in account upgrades.

If you do manage to sell the accounts they have a happy new player who they know buys things and can sell them upgrades in the shop. You might make money from your end but they make more with less effort.

My other suggestion was a COTO buyback scheme so you can sell them COTOs for cash at about half the price they sell them for. Get people like you working to their advantage. I may have suggested preinstalling the game with some educational material on cheap laptops and distribute them to schools in low income areas in Thailand or somewhere.

Thank you in advance for your support. You are going to be a valuable step in infrastructure that a lot of game designers overlook.

I dont know if the way they are working the third party interests like gold farmers is going to be successful, almost nobody else does ot the way they are doing it. I do know I am excited to see how it works oit, this could set a MMO standard for future games.

Are you putting the ore up on a public vendor in Towns for low and buying them?

On note of Bots, they can destroy a game extremely fast, specially miner bots
