    Hi all,

Would like to know what you all think of the new watermill? I'm not a big fan of it yet, but maybe it will grow on me.

Seen the one Rufus has at Dawn's Keep, anyone else get one? Would like to see it in different settings.

    Thanks for looking.

not a fan. putting the wheel on the side instead of the logical place because they want people to see it was a bad idea. they COULD rotate the whole house, have it entered from a dock along the side like the lord houseboat rather than directly from the bank, and that would position the wheel correctly.

...but i do really like the mossy roof.

Pretty enough, but silly. The whole point of a water wheel like that is it is driven by the flow of water - so even if the wheel was in the right place and you could put them on a 'river' where it at least looked like it was being moved by the flow of water, putting them in the sea or alongside a lake (which is where I have seen a couple) is about as daft as the riverside lighthouses several inland towns have.

Yep - with flowing water available to drive it ... which many in the SotA world lack ...

Does the watermill on the outside connect to anything on the inside that spins?

I like it, though its not without faults. It would be better if the fins on the wheel were more perpendicular to the water. And it would, in general, make more sense if the wheel were on the back side of the house rather than the right side. Ideally, you'd have the option of setting the spin of the wheel, clockwise or widdershins.
No, it doesn't... but the interior is a nicely open first floor, a not overly wide stairwell as in some houses that also provides a nice out of the way place to put a Basement Hatch, and the upstairs divided into two large rooms. A simple, open, functional layout.

The wheel is clearly on the wrong side. How is it inside?

aesthetically not to bad - viability completely off base.

Been clearly stated above needs to be in some way connected to a water FLOW not just in water.

Direct in river or needs a sluice to give it some logic.

Also asked is there something on the inside to indicated it works or is this purely some aesthetic ?

was gonna take a jab but not even worth it

I was really excited about it, but couldn't purchase when I saw the wheel where its at. I considered it even then, but knew that it would grind my gears every time I saw it. So for my own sanity, I passed.

Yes, the position of the wheel had me going "what?" the first time I saw it. But then it's not like there is a mill pond and leat to go along with it either. And when it's next to a metal airship, four lighthouses, and someone's tower of doom, it'll probably be one of the least out of place looking things too. =P

Like I menioned in Rufus' thread, another option to moving the wheel is rotating the whole house. I'm pretty sure they took the model for the house from a watermill model that was rotated the other way.... (There are watermills in some adventure scenes)

They would have to do some modifications to make the entrance work, though.
