It's difficult to hold a lance and both coconuts at the same time.

I'm sure we'll all get hobby horses in R53.

Alas the follow command doesn't work when mounted.

Isn't your lord servant supposed to be running behind you clopping away on the coconuts?

Why do you need jousting when we have gustball?

    J/k j/k

Can't imagine that we'll have jousting until we have other game mechanics first to build thr foundation for it.

To those who may not remember the promise of actual mounts to come some time in the future.. and those who purchased foals way back with the promise that they would grow up some day. Actual mounted combat may still be in the future..

Yes although initial plans for mounts exclude combat.

Would be interesting to see mounted NPC mobs though, come to think of it.

Maybe theyll add horses with animal husbandry...we go into the wild tame some horses bring them back to the ranch...let them mate and create some pure breeds variations with different stats...use them for mounted combat.

True.. but imagine the possibilities.. polearms could dismount opponents.. as could various new attacks/spells.. horse archery... potentially way overpowered. :) Charging trolls with a lance... horse armor!

Knocking someone off a horse = ouchies.

How limited would a horse archer be in steering a horse? I'm trying to imagine how magic casting from a horse would look, too. (Mounted gustball)

Well technically it depends both on the training and temperament of the horse in question and the skill of the rider. On a well trained horse a skilled rider would not need their hands at all.

Jousting saddles have a high back to resist dismount. So a sufficient blow knocks down the horse and rider together. This also as the effect of transferring all the energy of a moving armored knight _and moving armored horse_ into the lance. You'd not want to be on the receiving end if you lack the proper equipment.

Jousting saddles also have a high and wide front to protect against 'low blows'.

Given where the game is at, on a number of levels, I don't see this happening anytime soon. If ever. Hope is a powerful emotion though; I get that, too.
