Why do I look like I am disintegrating when I leave/enter a zone? (I like Star Trek but that's not what I am playing...) The new sound effect on test makes it seem even more like I am materializing into the scene instead of just walking in... :(

... and perhaps its accurate to the background story as a whole. Perhaps the premise is you are trapped in a procedurally generated universe on some alien quantum storage wafer?

Yes, or it's a subspace vacuole and the sound is background noise from a space-time discrepancy happening inside an atmosphere. What shall we do Commander Sparhawk?

Is it me or is the QA spawn protection longer than r50/live? What did we downgrade the teleporters while we changes the noice?

Find the AI that is hacking the Oracle with influence from the Cabalists, of course! Then we set the Koboldic Phase Array disruptors to Deep Fat Fry.

That may be a bug, because the protection is supposed to last a few seconds while the lightning effect dances over you.

    :D

Yea some of us were wondering about this when the effect went in and asked in a telethon whether we leave New Btitannia when we log out and re-enter when we log in.

LB's offical answer was no, we stay in after we arrive through the Isle of Storms.

So maybe the alien quantum wafer theory is true :D

The visuals don't bother me , but the sound is not pleasant. I just got back to playing with sound on because they are starting to be decent.(obvious hard work team thank you.) Maybe this sound is in its first iteration.

I like it a LOT more than nothing at all. I'm not hearing a sound, however, so not sure on that one.

I personally don't like being stuck until the zone-in effect is done.

I don't mind the new sound, but its volume seems much to high.

Did you know we actually have a different set of sounds for using the Lunar Rift vs your default teleport? At current we have a known bug where the scene enter/exit sound is playing pretty prominently when players appear (we'll be working with tech to sort that out), but if the sound is too jarring that's good to know too :). Thanks for the feedback!

i really really appreciate the sound when teleporting. It feels like i'm actually doing something magical, instead of just using a menu.

Im not talking about when I recall or teleport into a scene. Im mean when I just walk out an exit or just enter a town normally

I sometimes think it would be amazing if SOTA just used lunar rifts to get between every scene. An endless combination of rifts to get from zone to zone would be fascinating. And supremely maddening I'm sure. Yes we'd still be zoning, but it would tie the zoning mechanic to the lore.

I remember Asheron's Call for having a simple but meaningful approach to its portals. They were essential points of interest to find, know, and use. By comparison, SOTAs lunar rifts still feel...a bit underutilized .... probably because we zone so frequently otherwise so don't feel as special as they might.

If the devs crack the 'fun code' on lunar rifts more, I'll take any zoning graphical and sound effects they give me!

At least the new visual does not look like we are trying to give birth, or other scatalogical movements as it used to appear.

I will agree that the sound effect is far too loud, and obnoxious.

I think scene change noise and effect might emphasize a bit much how things are instanced? It would be nice to pretend they just walked between zones. (that are adjacent)
