Hey folks, I have a few screenshots to share of our updates to South Midmaer Way. The visuals are inspired by African grasslands like the Kalahari, as well as the ruins and rough terrain of the Valley of The Kings. A Satyr bazaar lies at the heart of the grasslands, nestled within the canals of an ancient city. In the mountainous ravines, plunderers and Satyrs alike are raiding the tombs of ancient kings which are scattered throughout the map.

Wondering how a Norgard-style longboat fits in with the theme? Does South Midmaer have any real water? Some lore connection? Or is it just a ... boat. Just curious when I saw it.

That lake looks interesting... it looks quite recently filled how that grass looks in the water, and I would have thought it looked a lot less than perhaps there once was but those trees at the shore look quite old. There's some explaining/investigation to do! ;)

For those asking about the possibility of water, as mentioned in my initial post, the area is inspired by the Kalahari. The Kalahari is a dry desert for most of the year, but during the rainy season, the river Okavango floods and parts of the desert transform into a wetland. In South Midmaer Way, these changes are less seasonal. The lake used to be much bigger, and was once connected to a river which no longer exists. Now the lake is nearly empty, and its original inhabitants have left as a result.

The river that no longer exists.... if the lake is near empty, would a river channel still be assumed to still be visible in the landscape? (im guessing its away from the zone so in theory only?)

Umm, I thought South Midmaer Way was a foresty type of place. On the overland map, it looks foresty (not heavily woodsy, but definitely not deserty) and it is next to-ish a river.

odd bit i praise i know, but i was very impressed: i ran around for hours climbing into all sorts of rubble and never got stuck in the rocks.

Just give me a chance. If there is a place to get stuck, I'll do it! :)

The overworld shows it as being somewhat arid, and I imagined it as a savanna. The desert is nearby to the west, and there are wetlands to the east, so the biome should reflect that kind of transition.
