Am I missing something here? Could someone take a look at this image and tell me if this is a bug? I have nothing on and I am getting a +35% fizzle chance from equipment.

right. no equipment equals no fizzle. 1.35 * 0 is still 0. there's none showing on the card on your combat bar.

Sorry not clear what you mean - notice the Lich spell says +35% fizzle chance from equipment. All other spells say same. This would appear a bug no?

no. that was always the case, it's just not hidden anymore. you'll notice you're not actually getting any fizzle, as there's nothing to multiply.

ok thanks for the clarification. Seems confusing - I assumed it was the total percentage based on the individual % listed on each component.

nope! it's a multiplier ON TOP of the equipment. that's why it's easier to cast things from the right hand side of the magic trees earth, life, water) than the left (death, fire, air) when wearing equipment with a lot of fizzle

Since that is not really the answer BUG REPORT it.

I had the same reading with my light armor on and put a shield in hand and it still said +35%

SO something is wrong even if is just what is shown.

yup, this is happening to me also where all mage glyphs on combat bar say +35% regardless of the spell and what I am wearing. Though the spells are not actually fizzling...

Probably a year or two back I bug reported the wrong fizzle because these "spell tree fizzle modifiers" were hidden. So for example, you put on chain gloves that say +8% fizzle and the real effect was +11% fizzle on some spells and +5% fizzle on other spells, which was very confusing.

I still think that the way that this information is presented is confusing (as evidenced by the creation of this thread) and could be presented better.

I may be wrong, but I don't think it is a bug. I always thought that the text that you see in red ("35% fizzle chance from equipment") was the general description of how the glyph works, just as the cooldown rate that is listed immediately above it is the general cooldown rate for the glyph. Your actual fizzle rate is listed a bit further above (right under the focus price). It says "Fizzle chance: 0%".

Yeah, not a bug. Just displaying the information that was hidden before I believe.

Also interesting that ALL STAVES provide -30% Fizzle. Would think there would be different grades of staves and some would offer virtually none. Basically it is just done to prevent magic use with anything other than a stave or wand.
