Why do I keep moving everything from a chest to my inventory?

I'm old and stooped, but I can't figure out why it happens. After depositing a few things in a chest and closing it I am suddenly carrying a 1000 lbs. Looking back in my inventory, everything from the chest has been moved here. Help an old guy out, what am I doing wrong?

 

you probably opened it up with the use key twice.. which opens the chest and takes all

 

Thinking by pressing 'E'. I do this about 2-3 times a week..2 days ago I did it with 2 chests at once! Was quite the feat and twice as obnoxious.

I'd really love it if they just gave us a little prompt that asked 'Do you want to take all 300 items out of this chest?'

You'd think they'd just add some internal code. If you're removing more than 15 items from a container, bring up a confirmation window. BOOM, done.

 

I think it happens to most people. E to open, and E to close (and TAKE ALL). This happened to me so often that it is ingrained in my behavior to always close a personal (belonging to me) container by clicking on the X in the top right-hand corner.

However, sometimes I want to open more than one container at once. So if a container is already open (and active!) and I think I am clicking on another container to open it as well, it still happens that I end up removing everything from the first container. Curses!!
