Instead of having to unlearn/relearn everything every time you want to switch decks, why not be able to learn every specialization but only have 2 actives max at the same time? That would really be much more in-line with the classless philosophy of SotA.

Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of specialization? I mean are you really "specializing" if you can have everything?

I like the specialization system how it is, because it gives new players a chance to excel at something. This way a new player can play for a month or two and be really good at their chosen specialization and even if a long term player has a ton of GM's the newer player still has a purpose, or a role he can fill really well.

Yes if you can "specialize" in everything what's the point ? Plus you are just back at the original problems that it's attempting to address in the first place.

I think too that specialization should stay as it is. Classless do not mean “learn everything” it just means jour are not caught in a predefined role.
E.g. if you chose to play as a warrior in class based system you are forced to use e.g. heavy armor, one hand sword and shields but you cannot train fire magic as this is exclusive to the mage class.
In a classless system you are defining your own role and chose the skills your chosen self-defined class should know. This does not even mean you are allowed to learn everything as even a system where you are just allowed to choose 5 of 10 skill trees would be still a classless system as there would be no predefined classes.
I personally would appreciate some more restrictions but there is a strong lobby against such changes and so currently I see there no anger-free-possibility for such a change but I'm still quite satisfied with the current solution of learn everything but just 2 specialisations.

I like specialization because they allow choices to be made about my play style. I dislike them because the consequences for those choices are too high. If I choose 2 specs for a specific build, it does make me feel somewhat 'trapped'. If we can make it easier or less penalizing to switch between specializations I'd be happier with the whole thing.

I like that Specializations are limited to two. If they increased that amount then they would have to take away the death decay bonus of specializations as it would erase death decay.
