We can have multiple characters per account!!

but they are all exactly the same character, due to “reasons”! WTH is even the point with this? It seems like a BS move just to say it was in at launch?!


There is a lack of hype for this game on these forums on launch day due to more “reasons”.

Well, let's say you wanted a polearm guy and a ranged guy. Sure, you could train them all for one avatar but then you would pay the decay price.

 

My issue with alternate characters has always been the significant amount of overlap; in all the passives, stats, stances, skill unlocks, attunement/resist grinding etc. Yes, you'll pay more decay to learn another weapon tree on 1 character, but compared to the time consumption of fully developing all the stuff you have to level up on a new character...well, I suppose some will still prefer to do that. I'd like to use a new character to experience the 'new player experience' again but can't see investing a lot of time in it - time I could be spending developing my 'main' character I mean. I do have a (separate account) alt so I can at least drag the two of them around together if I wanted, same-account has a lot less appeal, particularly with the restrictions.

 

Exactly, if you want to be competitive you have to train almost every skill to 80 and then "specialise" This is nonsense

 

This isn't new... Alternate characters on the same account were Always going to share the same bank and property and virtue.

They have never waivered on this since day one.

 

From the R52 instructions so we're all on the same page :

• Multiple Characters: Eligible players will now be able to have multiple characters on a single account. Note that these characters will share virtue and will have a common bank account. Characters will also share guild membership and land ownership ( including lot access permissions and rentals).
  • Multiple Characters (Online): Players who are eligible for Multiple Characters will now receive the appropriate number of extra character slots. NOTE: We intend to provide future opportunities to purchase extra slots from the Add-On Store as individual purchases.
  • Multiple Characters (Offline): Playing in Offline Mode grants all players 10 slots, regardless of purchase.

 

Yes. We can now have multiple characters on our accounts (provided you purchased a pledge that had multiple character slots of course)... it is quite exciting for some people... others don't care too much.

I have to disagree that it's a BS move.. it was delivered, as promised.
I don't think I see a lack of hype... people I know are quite excited... including myself.

 

And soon everyone will get the opportunity for another character slot or more. We cannot go back and undo the way it happened to giving certain pledge rewards but we can go forward to all that will come before us and that will include character slots, and heraldry as well.

 

I have my main who is a crafter/tank and my alt will be a nut job fire mage.

 

What I like about this is optional, players may want to RP a different sex which can be fun. Or they simply want to go with a totally different build and want to keep upkeep costs down.

 

Not having a monthly fee reduces the pain of having a second account, so that option is still open for those who don't want their alt to "share" everything. But there's still the option to pay money for telethon post-mortem livestream rewards.

 

I've been against this since it was announced. For me additional characters are opportunities to roleplay a different way. If we have to be the same person no matter what toon we are on, it really takes the roleplay out of rpg in my opinion.

 

But never wavering on a bad idea does not make it any better.....

 

Rnt they charging for 2nd char slots outside offline?

Also im unclear on the op.. banks shsred.. viryue or w.e shared... he mskes it sound like you dont get to design at least a new char ( looke n such )

 

what was the pledge needed to get this? I really thought I was getting one but I don't see it as an option ...

 

Im unclear on this whole thing. I didnt realize when i (kinna had to buy the game) that we would be limited to one online character per account. I assumed it would be like "EVERY OTHER GAME IVE EVER PLAYED" and we would be able to have multiple characters to use/play. Ive never played a video game (im not saying there isnt some out there) that restricted you to one character. Yes some did charge for extra character slots but only after the first 2 or more free ones were used up. So far ive changed my characters main weapon type 3 times. Yes, in other words ive gotten her so far & then deleted her & started over with a new one using a different weapon. I would love to have 3 slots to use to start with or even two would be nice, especially considering theres 3 different starting paths for the avatar.
Now i read above that they were supposed to give everyone who qualified when they started, extra char slots instead of just the one. But no one bothered to say what or who would or will qualify for this. Im assuming i didnt even though i "PAID" for the game because i only have the one slot for the online version & multiple slots for the offline chars.
So did they or are they going to either sell or give extra online character slots out or what? Id really love to be able to have more than one online to play. Plus it would benefit them financially also because there would be more avatars to equip & train & so on.
Also this is the only game ive played that has had so many add-ons & extras that you have to buy if you want them, yet are usually standard in other games...

 

You can purchase the additional slot on the add-on store.

Personally, I haven't found the need to have more than one avatar due to the current skill system. Other may think/feel differently.

 

It’s $10..... and that helps fund the game too. Don’t see a problem with it personally. And I bought 1.
