Count me and numerous of my guild members (BMC) who are almost always on and doing stuff. I'd say at least on the average there are 8+ from BMC online.

You're right... The cause is lost before the battle is joined.

Give up, People... Pack it in! Turn off the servers! Start looking for other jobs, Dev Team.

Don'tcha just love how the naysayers in every game are always around posting on that said games forums. Its like that Ex-Girlfriend that writes you a long email saying "I'm better off without you... and so happy without you...". Yet you have already moved on and have given the past no thought whatsoever because you have already moved on to bigger and better things. (this example is a true story BTW)

I'm sure they will track the metrics, but it is premature to expect it on day one. I am interested to see once the first quarter has passed, and more word of mouth has been spread.

You can see how many are on with steam at any given time: http://steamcharts.com/app/326160#7d

It averages around 100 - 250 players on at any given time. Since this was just "released" today, as we speak there is 493 players. Which is about 100 shy of their all time high.

Yes, then you can expect for the real number to be higher.

And as long as many people never linked their account to Steam for many reasons, including financial and political ones, you can expect that number to be higher by far.

Overland map around Central Brittany was swarming with avatars. Some long absent guildies also popped up again in guild chat. I'm hopeful :)

Keep in mind that numbers grow with time as we increase marketing reach, so giving you numbers today wouldn't do justice, or really make sense anyway to the game we have. The world is so large though, that even with thousands of players on at any given time, you may only see a few at once in some of the scenes!

I believe these are just steam players gaming. I don't use steam typically (unless I really really have to). So the numbers I'm guessing are higher :D

They are for sure higher, but most people do use steam, so my guess (just a pure guess) is you could add at most 20% to those numbers at any given time.

These steam numbers aren't really high. Shroud has 417 Steam players playing as I write. Neverwinter Nights Enhanced Edition, which also launched today, has 870 Steam players (and this isn't counting those using the Beamdog client) .

Neverwinter MMO has 2,879 Steam players playing, not counting the non-Steam players. Warhammer Vermintide 2 which launched earlier this month has 21,000 players as of writing.

Personally I have never seen as many people in the game, I crossed novia for the form and met 88 different people, all seemingly going about their business :)

There was at least 20 people chatting in novia zone chat...

I'd guesstimate 1000 concurrent players right now :)

It's the game the vocals wanted. Doesn't matter to them that the game isn't popular.

I would agree with most of your assessment though I wouldn't give ratings that high. There is still no real clear art direction with a lot of the game, inconsistent art styles etc. Lots of little niggles with housing, permanent lights in houses that can't be replace/upgraded even though we now have better looking chandeliers/wall lights, resizing not possible, collision issues, inconsistent furniture styles, lack of complete furniture sets for those styles that are there, no dye/paint system for housing/furniture. etc etc.

No... most people do not use Steam.

The last time they said anything about it, Steam users were 30 to 35%. If that is still accurate, you'd need to triple the Steam numbers to get approximation.
