There was talk of a CHAOS BOMB spell during Monthly Livestream for Release 52 - Apr. 6, 2018 on twitch today.

    Chaos Bomb:
A spell within the Choas tree that will scatter every avatar to random places including the caster.

What might a virtue bomb do?
    What is a virtue bomb?
What are the costs to cast/use the virtue bomb (if any?)

opposite of chaos is order, not virtue.

So we might suggest a spell to represent ORDER as well?

Darkstarr can be seen as the agent of Chaos (and has the Chaos Bomb spell in development). Lord British may decide to create a "Virtue Bomb" as an item (since there is no Virtue skill tree).

You raise a great point @Alley Oop . There is not an Order skill tree either. Hmm.

Ignoring the fact that bombs aren't virtuous...

The Focus skill tree at one point was sketched out in a way that made me think it was related to Order; considered as a school of magic, it was called "Omnipotence."

Anyway, I agree with LB that the suggestion of it stopping PvP was kind of cool. That would make it a kind of "peace bomb." Obviously by temporarily purifying people's hearts.

"Peace bomb" as a form of forced diplomacy.

Stop, drop VIRTUE BOMB, let's all harvest resources for 60 seconds ... because we are unable to PVP. Bonus: we regen our Focus, clear our thoughts, and decide what our strategy will be going forward.

If in a Shardfall, a Virtue Bomb might be dropped to pause PVP in order to clear the NPC mobs first.

An alternative to a forced halt to PvP could simply be a debuff that makes it so when you hit another player, you lose 1 damage for every damage you deal. Sort of a twist on a Torpid Torment spell.

Or, it could only be when you attack a virtuous player if you want to pick sides. However, either way, the unvirtuous should be allowed to flee or surrender, out of mercy. Any healing should apply to all players, not just virtuous ones; 'tis merciful. But then they better know their bell has tolled and flee the sight of those with virtue.

The virtues (in SotA, anyway) are Truth, Love and Courage, which are innate. They cannot be equipped. So, what if the use of a virtue bomb results in all our armor, weapons and inventory temporarily disappearing (say for five minutes), leaving us with just our innate virtues. This includes temporarily replacing our skill trees with the new trees of Truth, Love and Courage, which have one skill each. These are automatically placed in your combat bar, and are the only skills available to you.

The Truth skill allows you to see all players and NPCs even when they should be hidden by obstacles - the higher the skill, the further the range. It does, however, also make you visible to others.

The Love skill allows you to hit someone (love hurts!) but, beyond a certain level, only if they hit you first. The higher the skill, the greater the damage, but the greater the provocation required before you can retaliate. Forgiveness occurs ten seconds after the last time you are hit, and a new provocation will be required before hitting someone.

The Courage skill allows you to instantly teleport to any selected enemy, provided they are visible (includes being visible as a result of a high Truth skill), but slows movement (courageous people do not run away). The higher the skill, the greater the teleport range and the slower the movement.

After five minutes your armor, weapons and inventory are restored.

(OK, that's completely over the top, but it was fun thinking about it.)

    @Womby

What a great idea for a book. Call it "Theoretical Truth Bomb" or perhaps "Truth Bomb in Theory and Practice"?

How about a chaos bomb shaped like a disco ball that when used forces all within its blast range to do a specific dance like the Macarena or a random dance?

A chaos bomb spell that has a random chance of causing a random effect?

    1. Could be an Area of Effect spell that causes avatars to dance emote
    2. Teleports Avatars in the area to random location
    3. Something else from the chaos tree?

@Chris -- Can you clarify this Chaos Bomb spell that was mentioned during Monthly Livestream for Release 52 - Apr. 6, 2018 on twitch.

An Order Bomb would cause everybody to line up and march around in formation.

    That is soooo Darkstarr.

A virtue bomb makes you feel bad before the impact. You know what you did to deserve this!
