Without Steam the patch was only ~120 MB.

damm makes you wonder what steam is doing to pad the files are they getting kick backs from the isp so they can charge us when we go over our limit? talk about stuffing the turkey :)

The launcher just patches what changed. In steam you download the whole file again, no matter how much is redundant.

The files being patched are like little databases, and only parts of them are changed. What Steam is doing is like adding some files to a .zip and then sending the entire .zip when any part of a file changes. I presume that if there were a better way to do it with steam, they would have done it.

Steamworks, patching -> "Building Efficient Depots for SteamPipe"

I have said this before and I will continue to do so :)
Steam has very efficient patching system. This works for all the other games that I'm currently playing, even huge games like Rainbow six siege, for example:
Playerunknow's battleground: Total size 20Gb, patch was 37.7Mb.
SotA: Total size 10Gb, patch was 900Mb

So, steam definitely can handle "delta patching" and it will do so IF the developers are doing things so, that Steam can do its magic. Now, I do not know all the facts, but I'm 100% sure, that Port could make steam patches smaller, but I have no idea about effort needed.

However, I have no problems downloading anything, I have 750/200 cable and it takes less than 15s to download a Gb.

It would be great if Port did get Steam more efficient, lots of people over there complain and then get directed to the launcher, which doesn't look good on Steamcharts.
