Announcing the S Mart Factorium.

S Mart has started a manufacturing and outlet town near Resolute.

As you probably know, I'm a huge fan of the in game economy and love to experiment with it. This is my latest experiment, which came to me while listening to "An Economic History of the World Since 1400." Specifically I was thinking about the "putting out system," which was used before powered manufacturing.

The primary purpose of the Factorium is to allow new players to participate more quickly and in bulk, in the crafting side of the game. So when S Mart needs to make a whole bunch of antique furniture, for instance I'll offer new players the opportunity to process a whole bunch of the materials, and pay them for it. This sometimes extends to veterans (or new players who have acquired the recipes) with finished goods.

I will be tinkering with prices on all stages of the manufacturing system in order to make it worthwhile to both the crafters and the distributor, and potentially wholesalers. It would be nice to be able to price goods wholesale so that resellers can pick it up and resell for a profit. This will hopefully keep the factory busy, and thus we'll have lots of happy crafters!

The not good news for this whole thing is that it's going to roll out much more slowly than I had anticipated. My Mom passed away this week after her fight with Leukemia, so I won't be around very much for the rest of the month. I'll be putting a memorial for her in Lux Sanctuary, and at the Factorium. She was a very loved and nice lady, friend, community member, and of course Mother.

So while I will be setting up the Factory today and tomorrow, I'll be gone shortly after that, and for most of the month.

If you would like to come participate by giving some new players things to craft/process, please feel free to do so. Of course you can utilize the tables as well.

Also, if anyone would like to donate the basic crafting tables today, they will be appreciated. At this moment I have none. I'll purchase whatever hasn't been donated at the end of the day, after I get the buildings sorted out.​
