Another Map of Novia + Hidden Vale

    MAPS UPDATED: October 17, 2015 - R22 Patch 337

    I spent all day today running around Novia's over-world map to create a version of the hand-drawn map with updated Player Owned Towns and points of interest all because it was something fun I've always wanted to do, and I'd like to share it since I spent so much time on it. This map may not include all areas yet since it only covers the places I have actually discovered myself. I will be keeping it as up to date as possible when I can.

    Funny thing as I came to the forums to post this tonight, I discovered cartodude has already been keeping the community up to date with their very accurate .pdf Map of Novia so check theirs out if you haven't. I felt a little silly when I saw their post getting that "someone has already done it" feeling, but I think that my map will at least provide people with an alternative if they prefer the look of the hand-drawn map!

    Edit: The original image I used for Novia as a base for my edit is this one here: https://d2sx9mrt4zumaq.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/SotA_Novia_Map1.jpg I am not sure if it is a Portalarium Official map or if it is fan-made. If someone can please verify who created it, I'd like to give due credit to the creator! Thanks!

    Yeah, Birko and Cartodude did a really good job on their maps, but as you said, its always good to have some alternatives. I love your map for beeing hand drawn and very clear. Good work, Ember!!! I will print it out and use it for my next adventure today, thank you!!

    Great job! You can never have too many maps. I actually wanted to use this map as my first basemap but my method of using the actual in game x,y values won't work on this one... The hand drawn maps were too heavily distorted for the actual x,y's. It's really cool though to see someone take the time and effort to update and use this map base! I've always loved the look of it.

    Thank you for the compliment! I admire your work and boy howdy yes!!! That hand drawn map has some major distortion going on in some areas. It made it a lot more fun than I thought it would be to try to place locations as accurately as possible. :) There are huge expanses of land with no solid points of reference in the west! It will be easier once they add in more of the major cities... or at least change those boulder placeholders into city/town looking markers! :D

    Time to start on Hidden Vale! Woo!

    Looking good. If I could make a suggestion, the smaller orange labels are extremely difficult to read, even fully zoomed in.

    Yes, I'll make the smaller text larger. The way box.net compresses the image in their preview makes almost all of the text I added unreadable! :eek: It is much clearer if you download it, but still. I will be making the text larger.

    Ty Ember. Your map is terrific. I agree we can't have enough maps. Also the yellow font is hard to see, perhaps if you use another color red or blue or something. the yellow does not jump out at you and is a bit hard to see. Just some feedback sorry. Thank you for your contribution to the community.:)

    Your feedback is more than welcome! I've already started making some visual changes to my map labels. Making text a little larger will probably help a ton. I'll see if another color would work better for PoT's too! And I'm adding a legend so people know what the colors of the text actually mean. Thank you kindly for the feedback!

    Update: Added a color key at the bottom. Made the text larger all across the board as per Bubonic's feedback and changed the color of PoT labels as per majoria70's feedback.

    I'm so tickled that you noticed. I also created the boat markers trying my best to match the style of the existing location markers. :) I'm even happier that you didn't point those out! :p
