Anybody knows why we can't teleport to friends inside PRT's?

Just tried and noticed i can't do that... is it a bug or there's a reason for it?

I was able to teleport to a friend who was at a PRT at the time.

Try cross out couple things:
1) Are you in multiplayer online mode?
2) If you are in friendly mode, is your friend in your party?
3) Can you teleport to other people outside that PRT?
4) Are these friends in the basement?

However, I noticed during the telethon, I went to Pax Lair and got kicked out due to performance issue. After I tried to get back in, it does not even let me to teleport to anyone (the options just black out) while I was in the multiplayer mode.

 

Thanks @Roycestein Kaelstrom for your answer and the sistematic approach! The answers to those questions doesn't cast new light over the subject though, since 1) i was in MPO 3) I had the option to 4) they were in the town.

What made me consider it's the PRT's fault is that one of the guildmates that were there made that statement, and also while hovering the mouse through the grayed out name of friends what were in the PRT the pop up that appeared said "you cannot teleport to this friend because he's in <PRT name>".

I'm a bit puzzled but unsure if there's a reason for us not being able to TP... I'll try to do more tests when i can, just in case it's not the PRT but another factor

 

Maybe they were not in Multiplayer Mode?

 

Also I remember there was an option for /nozone, which was the command that prevents people from teleporting to the person. That makes me wonder if it's still applicable to teleport or not.

Which PRT is it by the way?

About the "what if they were in multiplayer thing" i just noticed that the message for teleporting to folks in other zone is You cannot teleport to <player> because he's in a different match-making mode (<mode>). The message i'm getting here is the same as when you try to teleport to somebody in a dungeon, You cannot teleport to <player> while he's in <zone>.

The PRT in question is Grumridge, not sure if that happens in the rest of PRTs.

Nope! If you're encumbered the menu doesn't pop up.

You can always pull a BDF and walk friendless

 

Nah, I don't want to do that. I would like an afk feature or something that would say afk next to my name or a message that says afk when someone messages me while I'm afk to grab a drink or fix a sandwich or something, so that I'm not seen as rude when I don't reply to someone when I'm afk.

 

Also happens if you try and teleport to someone in Nightshade Pass. Might be true of all control points? Haven't tried others.

 

As far as i know that happens in control points, dungeons and basements. What i'm wondering about is... What does PRT's have in common with those places? why i can't Teleport to my friends in there?

Certain dungeons enforce a "Friends Online" mode on players who enter them. So even if the other player is playing in MPO, teleports to them will fail because they are in an FPO instance.

Control points could be the same, I haven't checked in a while.

So, it is possible that the player in question was in fact sorted into an FPO instance, and that was why you could not teleport to them. Not sure why that would happen in a town, but I would say Bug! and go with that.

As an aside:

Teleporting into basements is just broken entirely... If you were able to do so, you would find yourself in an improper copy of the instance, lacking all decorations, and even the proper ownership rights (I have encountered a bug that observed this), so the devs probably just turned it off until they can fix it.

 

That may explain why basement teleport is unavailable at the moment!

Maybe the instance your friend was in was closing? I've had that happen today, too

 

Nope, not the case either. Before posting the bug i made sure the usual stuff wasn't happening... this is not usual, but the friend i tried teleporting to just had logged in, so we could rule that out.

Besides, the same message keeps repeating regardless of which people enters there.

 

Maybe....just maybe....the town dosen't exist ^^?
