    Running This Build: RANGED

    Card Abilities
    • Disable Shot - Ranged attack that slows target
    • Piercing Shot - Ranged attack that ignores targets armor
    • Aimed Shot - Ranged attack with bonus accuracy
    Innate Abilities
    • 5 points in Eagle Eye (+20 Attack Skill)
    • 5 points in Ranged (+50% More Range)
    • 5 Points in Draw Strength (+20% base Damage)

DISABLE SHOT: This ability is really nice for kiting, problem is you have to apply it to often. What does this last 3 seconds? I'm thinking 5 seconds perhaps.
PIERCING SHOT: What exactly does this do, I rarely see this do anything other then give a glow effect. Damage output is the same?
AIMED SHOT: So you get a little buff that last a shot or two? Or is it on some timer of 2 - 3 seconds. Using Piercing Shot while this is active removes this buff instantly.

EAGLE EYE: Do not really notice that much difference between 1 point in this and 5.
    RANGED: Works great!!
DRAW STRENGTH: Not really noticing any damage difference between 0 ranks in this and 5 ranks.

okay so overall the mechanics for kiting are working (kind of). Main problem is I am only dealing 1-2 damage per auto attack? When I use abilities it is almost always in the 1-2 damage range. Right now I am using a Great Longbow which has the following stats. Highest damage I have seen was 8. It takes a good 3-4x longer to kill something that a fire skill based character can.
    • Damage: 15
    • Critical: 5
    • Strength Bonus: Very Low
    Questions?

Does being father away make a difference in damage output?
Are there plans to address the damage issue?
Is there a better bow then what I have, where do you find it?

    • Shooting things at max range often causes them to run away once they get close due return to home mechanics.
    • Sometimes it just dead sticks and shoots and does no damage for like 10-15 arrows in a row, that's with the +50 accuracy bonus active at all times.
    • Having to run back to Owl's Head to get more arrows is kinda of a bummer. Is there a way that in forest areas/cities towns that there is some sort of ranger/archer based vendors of any sorts. Being at the bottom of the Hidden Vale and traveling to get arrows is kinda bleh.

Are these PVE or PVP observations?

And yes, being able to make arrows seems like one of those maddenling obvious things that I'm shocked it isn't in the game already.

I could have sworn there is a arrow recipe I could be wrong though.

    "Archery R9"
Archery sure enhanced the PvP here. So I would suggest watching some PvP out on that island called "The Brave Coast". There are many players that come there just to watch, and if they do kill you, it's not that hard to just res back and enjoy the rest of the show. PvP isn't exactly the same as PvE, but it's extremely close to it and dose better than most on PvE.
I'm not that good at PvP, but I do so much love to see the fights!
Those Archers were tearing me up this release because I do prefer playing a more melee style character. I do try out many of the Mage builds and different styles, but those styles just don't appeal to me and I'm looking forward to when melee gets another enhancement.
For me, it's not about win or loose, "it's how to look good in doing so" :D
Archery is another love of mine and I was truly impressed at it's effectiveness in this release (R9).
My most successful characters of other games was always the Stealth Archer, yet I always loved the more melee Knight and close encounter combat style.
Archery +1 for SotA Archery! I was very impressed... ;)

Am I right in understanding there is not where to craft/buy arrows? Only by killing elves?

You can by them from Theo in Owl's Head. Sometimes he "sells" 500 Arrows for free. Singleplayer mode is recommended, because in multiplayer they are constantly sold out.

If enemy can't attack you, arrows does not damages?!
That's one of the advantages on being a ranger.
