Ashton, Killing the Awoken at Solace Bridge

4. Details: I did not have trouble doing this quest last release, but for some reason it will not advance no matter how many Awoken Dead I kill. My journal is stuck on the following entry:

"Ashton, a villager in Soltown, offered me a reward for destroying five of the awakened dead that are plaguing Solace Bridge. He gave me a few potions that would help stop the disease they spread, and said that bartender sold more."

When I talk to Ashton after killing (way more than) 5 undead at the bridge, he just repeats the same dialogue as before. As I said, I did not have trouble turning this quest in with the previous release. I did notice that I do not have the plague cure in my backpack. Maybe I sold it. Could that mess up the quest?

Take the quest.
Sell the plague cure potions.
Kill the monsters at Solace Bridge.

Same, no quest completed dialogue or experience points.
Variant:
I visited Solace Bridge and killed some zombies before getting the quest from Ashton.

 

Same no update and now Ashton seems to have disappeared?

 

same have killed well over 5 awoken and no response

 

Dev posted a response in another thread. The quest is being reworked.

I'm having the same problem, I've killed at least 20 of the things.

I had this same problem yesterday. Later on, I went to talk to Ashton about something else (the Fire quest) and he immediately thanked me for killing the awakened dead and gave me the XP. It caught me by surprise, as there was no indication that the mission was "complete" until that moment.

 

Ashton's original request was to kill 5 awakened dead. Killed them and he doesn't acknowledge that I did. Checking the journal shows the following: 'Ashton, a villager in Soltown, offered me a reward for recovering his Grandmothers keepsake from the awakened dead that are plaguing Solace Bridge.'

Maybe we need to go back and find that keepsake.

 

Yep, it is a drop on a random awoken zombie when you have the quest.

Make sure you read the book.

 

Have you actually had it drop? If so how many?

I was in the middle of the kill quest when it changed to getting the keepsake, I have killed over 20 now and have not dropped it

 

I received the drop and finished the quest, but I didn't pick it up when it was kill 5.

 

I still have not gotten the book to drop and I have been trying for about 3 days. A guild mate I was grouped with got it on the first zombie we killed and he looted. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I have checked everything to make sure I did not loot it on accident and didn't realize it.

 

If you had the quest already assigned before the patch, the book won't drop until you talk to Ashton again after the next patch (not today's). Sorry about that.

(The book has a 35% chance of dropping from any Awakened Dead zombie, but only if Ashton has asked you about it.)

• Fix for players who already had the “kill 5 zombies” quest from Ashton in Soltown when it was switched to finding a book. Players can now talk to Ashton again to get the request for the book.
