    (CNN)Spending a year in space not only changes your outlook, it transforms your genes.

    Preliminary results from NASA's Twins Studyreveal that 7% of astronaut Scott Kelly's genes did not return to normal after his return to Earth two years ago.
    The study looks at what happened to Kelly before, during and after he spent one year aboard the International Space Station through an extensive comparison with his identical twin, Mark, who remained on Earth.

    Its because your not shielded from radiation from the earths magnetic field. It smashes your dna in a process called fraying. Just ask an astronaut about the little lights they see when they close their eyes, its radiation penetrating their eyes.

    This is why I don't want to go to space, beyond the radiation, it really messes up your digestive system, muscles get weak if you do not work out, the food is well, limited by weight. I think I would just like a few rides on the vomit comet to kinda get the feel for weightlessness.

    And dont forget the inherent cancer concern if your DNA has been changed by 7%... At 7% I would think he would be dead right now. Kinda of like reading the history of the Manhattan project and all the people who either died of radiation of cancer soon after.

    As I said before, I don't want to go out there :) . I watched a doc about it, and no way do I need to leave earth for now, its hell on the body.
