Attack skill question

    If you do the calculations based on my table you get:

    with polearm:
    1) base skill: 25
    2) melee weapon: 5
    3) str: 43 (53 - 10 ) * 1 (10 is the base skill and you get 1 attack point per str because you hae a melee weapon
    4) dex: 12 (22-10) * 1
    5) int: 18 (28 - 10) * 1
    Total with a weapon is 103.

    With no weapon (weapon removed)
    1) base skill: 25
    2) no weapon: 0 (you lose 5 points here because you don't have a weapon equipped)
    3) str: 86 (53 - 10) * 2 (because you have bare hands each str point is worth 2 attack skill points)
    4) dex: 12 (22 - 10) * 1
    5) int: 0 (with bare hands you don't get an int bonus to attack skill)
    Total without a weapon: 123

    When you remoe your weapon your skills goes up because you have a ton of strength points that double their contribution to attack skill (you've gained 43 points because of the different strength bonus mulitplier). This is more that you lose (18 int bonus and 5 weapon bonus). So there is a net gain of 20 points when you are bare handed. (or if you want a net loss of 20 skill points when you equip a weapon.)

    I'm not saying that all your calcs are incorrect - by any means - but my total without a weapon is not 123 - it's 110. o_O

    All I can figure out right now is that at some point with no weapon the relationship changes so that 1 strength gives 1 attack skill point instead of 2 and 1 dexterity give .5 attack point instead of 1. There seems to be a relationship between them where this happens. You can take a couple of dex points out and then you get 2 attack points for an increase of 1 str point instead of 1 attack point. I can't quite figure out the relationship, but it does change when str seems to get over 50 and dex gets over 20. But you can play with the str and dex values so that the pattern stays as before but will break after another point has been added.

    Ok I am starting to understand what you saying from your test Jirric, Looks like I need to brush up on my mathematician skills to figure this out. :)
