Avatar Name Availability

How soon after you delete an Avatar will their name be available again for someone else to use (or in my case be available to a different account)?

 

No one has come across this yet? @Berek any ideas?

 

i would hope the answer is "never, without a support request."

 

That wasn't true at some point becuase I have changed names across acounts before and it was instant but this try not so much so looking to see what the official answer is.

 

Pretty sure it is still immediate.

 

I thought so too but tried it over the weekend and names stayed unavailable. I picked up a hihger tier pledge account I wanted to move a name on to take advantage of all the extras.

 

Hmmn. Interesting. Must be a post-persistence change. Did you try renaming the original character something else so it clears out the "ghost" on friends lists?

 

I actually wanted to 'swap' names from the 2 accounts, both of which were not available except from originating account. I didn't think to make a dummy name and then try the old one.

 

So any official word on this would be great before I go through the bother again. Maybe @DarkStarr knows?

 

Ok, so it seems @Selene was on to something. As long as I had a name somewhere in game, in my case house permissions, it kept the name "in use". Once I created a dummy name and all those got updated I was able to use the original immediately on another account.
