    Having the point change colour sometimes isn't enough (it's PARTICULARLY not enough if those colours are red and green) because for a significant portion of the population that change is not perceptible. Change the shape of the cursor.

    I also wonder if the person in question had mouse-look enabled. I think it (used to be?) the default. Frankly, I find the entire game unplayable with that.
