Battle Royal - New PvP Gameplay?

Not really sure what thats about, or if its involving PvP, but I think something like this would be perfect.

I think a Battle Royal system would be awesome! This may be the plan for the Arena in Brittany.
A sanctioned battle that happens daily or weekly. Of course there would need to be a designated location, like the arena or another scene.

You would buy a ticket to participate, and it could be ether a free for all, everyone against everyone, sorta like a gladiator style 1v1 tornament, or maybe both at different times.

Since you pay for a ticket, there would be a prize at the end. The reward could be things like, bunch of regents, or teleport scrolls, crafting mats, other fighters stuff, or maybe even a special plaque or piece of gear that shows u are a battle royal winner.

I think something like this would fit in nicely with the consentual PvP theme but also offer greater rewards/sense of accomplishment for those that choose to take part, while also bringing the PvP players together.

Is this really another Battle Royal Game?
Consider maybe SOTA styling it where it's meaningful in the game, and involves SOTA connected influences... the oracle, the cabalists, the <fill in the blank>
Then we can see where this can fit in



Yet more importantly, how can we make this "original and new" otherwise we're just a copy...

I like this idea. Why not steal some ideas from game shows too? There are so many interesting shows and funny ones too.

First thing that comes to mind are the reality shows that have people voted off islands or the ultimate fighter show where they have two teams but eventually it comes down to two. They team up at first, and then in the end it comes down to the last person standing. Although maybe there could be some sort of mind game element to it too so that ingenuity gains them points. Let the people who are eliminated become judges too. So if the guy undermines players from his own team it could be good in the beginning but bad in the end. Although i don't know how to implement something like this without it being kind of silly looking. However there might be a way.

The reason I bring this up is that we have had tournments before but (and this might be a little off topic), what about having a tournament where PvP is only a portion of the contest? LIke triathelons having different events. Feats of strength, battle of skill, battle of wits, and pvp?

Other shows like american gladiator, and Wipeout are examples of physically active game shows, but I suppose there are others too 25,000 dollar pyramid could probably be made into a PvP show but not exactly sure how. *i'm not joking just pondering*

 

however my idea asside, I would buy a ticket to just watch a battle royal. Guilds could hold these as fundraiser events. Battle royal events and tournaments like this are always going to draw a crowd.

 

well of course, Im not saying just throw in it just for it to be in there.

Could be any number of reasons, from town leaders wanting to find the best warriors, or even like from Kobolds, they like to watch us fight for sport/gambling so they host these events. Something along those lines.

 

So... Something along the lines of SmashTV?

"Big money! Big prizes!"

 

That is so cool. If kobolds (or whatever) capture us and force us into an arena. Fight or die (getting looted by the captor for rejecting the order to fight).

I suppose that would be a virtue test too.
