Bear sightings ???

Nope, and I've been there where I went to something they said was there and was in fact absent. That sucks. But if it's really there and decently hidden, I'm good with that. I thought I saw DS confirm they were there (somewhere).

 

If they are in the game its cool, but if they are not its a cruel joke. Between my qa and live ive got like 25 hrs hunting these bears.

 

Every high level zone in the game has been checked multiple times, the bears could just be super rare, everyone is ok with that as long as they are in fact spawning which it seems they are not.

Ive checked

Wyrmsands, WF, rise, ulfhiem, ruined keep, bloodbay and about 20 encounters, ravensmoor, deep ravenwoods, craig foothills. Ive also retried these zones at various times of the day.

 

I've put in several hours combing every zone in the game that I've ever seen a bear in, of any sort, with no results. Even checked lower tier scenes to see if perhaps they snuck in somewhere off the beaten paths. Nada and nothing. At this point were it not for Starr's post confirming they were in, it would be easy to assume they are not. I think that we need to re-evaluate some assumptions, like, there wouldn't be bears in a non-appropriate for level scene, or biome (ie underground). But with the number of people I've spoken to in last couple of days searching, the number of places they could be hiding is limited. Rare spawn? Time of day spawn? Progressive spawn (have to clear something?) Only spawns as part of CP waves? The likelihood of finding them just stood in the forest somewhere is slim at this point. Unless we're all blind, or our base assumptions are wrong - assumptions like "they wouldn't put them in a tier 1 scene" or "they wouldn't put them in a town scene" or "they wouldn't be in a mine"

Happy to spitball any ideas.

My search protocol started with the assumption that the darkstarr corpion and razorback boar are both found as 'great threats' in encounters, and that the bear being found in this way would be logical.

Then started combing all forest scenes with bears, from highest tier down. Ravensmoor seemed promising, with the two zone waypoints called 'bear den' but a couple hrs spent killing bears there yielded no results.

Ruined keep seemed promising too, due to the tier and the fact that the previous iteration of bears were there. Again, killing and cycling bears therein has yielded no results.

Its come down to outside the box thinking guys!

Has anyone tried killing off bears in ruined keep and letting them respawnseveral times without force-spawning the instance?

Edit: or doing the same with the ferocious onsidian?

Would be worth combing ravensmoor dungeon too

 

HINT: Has anyone checked a certain swamp in Hidden Vale where high level bears were known to spawn previously?

 

Any luck with finding the Obsidian Destroyer (Would love to know so I have my options open if I swap back to taming)?

Kileld every bear in moors of northshore for a good while never found it there

 

It took me a week of killing reapers to get a cowbell. Perhaps the new bears are the first of the ultra extra rare breeds of animals?

 

Yeah I killed the bears in the keep for 4 hrs today. Nothing higher than a large obsidian bear spawned.

 

Makes me say hmmmm a swamp in Hidden vale, never new there was a tier 6+ there...

 

Ran through 3 swamps, no sight of a bear yet.

 

Yeah been massacring all the swamps too. Also been culling the bear population in the keep, at midnight, with a full moon out, and casting reveal hidden everywhere in case its hiding.....swamp around the keep, inspected all walls for hidden passages....

crap has anyone went to the back side of ruined keep following the swamp/water around...… as far as I know it has been the only swamp area in a Tier 6+ zone to have high tiered bears (Ancient Obsidian Bear) or over in the corner by the well.... kinda getting irriatated I didn't follow the water around all the way on the side of the keep yesterday
