Title: Black screen of death and odd resume game behavior

Details: As described in the R28 QA Build announcement posting by DarkStarr, I repeatedly get a black screen when I enter Vauban Pass from the south. I can't turn when I have the black screen and the only way to escape it is to quit the game and launch it again.


Steps to Reproduce:

1. I walked through the Grunvald region and entered Vauban Pass. I heard the sounds but the screen was entirely black. Additionally, when I tried to turn my avatar using the mouse to navigate, I discovered that the compass did not change direction (I was unable to turn my avatar). I quit the game, still within the Pass.
2. I launched the game again and found myself on the overworld map at the southern pass entrance. I entered again, and again the screen was totally black. Again, I was unable to turn around. This time I backed out of the Pass, and exited to Novia. Back on the Overworld Map, the black screen persisted. I quit the game.
3. I launched the game again and went through the same actions described in 2. with the same results. This time, I didn't quit the game, but used a Recall scroll to travel to Ardoris. Once in Ardoris, the black screen persisted. As described above, my avatar was not able to turn. She could walk forwards and backwards with the mouse and forwards, backwards and sideways with WASD, but she couldn't turn.
4. EDIT: I quit the game in Ardoris to escape the black screen and relaunched the game. I selected the option "Start on Overworld map", thinking that I would find myself outside of Ardoris, but instead I found myself once again outside Vauban Pass. I entered the pass and got the black screen again.
5. EDIT: After killing a polar bear blindly I used another recall scroll to travel to Ardoris. Once in the town the screen remained black, though I could hear the town music. I quit the game and re-launched it. This time, however, I planned to resume the game in Ardoris and not select "Start on Overworld map". To my surprise, the "Resume" option put me in Novia, and not in Ardoris, where I had quit the game. When I resumed the game I found myself once again outside of Vauban Pass
6. EDIT: This time, instead of trying to enter Vauban Pass again, I decided to return to the Perennial Coast via Eastreach Gap. I had already traversed Eastreach Gap earlier. This time, entering Eastreach Gap from the northern side, I got the black screen again. I used a recall scroll to travel to Ardoris (screen remained black). I quit the game in Ardoris and re-launched it. Once again, I had no option to resume in Ardoris, but had to resume in Novia. I did this and ended up outside the northern entrance of Eastreach Gap again.

Just experienced the same black screen issue, as I tried to enter Etceter with a character, who also launched the game on Overworld map. After leaving the game (logoff was not enough) the graphic was back to normal (or the night ended...)

Windows 10, NVidia GTX980

 

Same thing happen to me when I try to access my POT from Resolute. When I log out and relog again, it took me to Resolute

 

Same black screen as above.....
I had Teleported to a party member in Vauban Pass and when I arrived, I had the black screen.

Just used Exit to Menu and then to Start on world map.
When I got there (Novia) I still have the black screen from above....

I get this same thing when entering zones at random. Its about a 1 in 3 chance i get it, at this point.

 

I got a black screen when going into Ardoris from the Novia map.

some multiple loactions. Interesting that you enter the scene encumbered but you're not actually encumbered.

 

I got the black screen as I went into Nightshade pass as well. After I relog, it sends me back to Novia, but got dark screen afterward

The game won't let me enter Ardoris. The black screen comes up any time I attempt to enter.

 

Relog doesn't seem to solve the black screen issue, but relaunch the client does.

but then it occurs when I try to switch to the new zone.

This is almost like the crashing issue we have with R27, except the client doesnt' crash this time.

 

I am having the same black screen issue, I cannot resolve this issue by relogging or rebooting my PC and trying again.

 

I'm having almost ever scene I try and get into black screen out. I wanted to go to owl's head but blood river (which has a lunar rift) and a bunch of other scenes such as control points all black screen and I'm stuck.

Title: Got the black screen of death heading from Novia into Brightbone Pass (South Gate)

Details: I logged on in Owl's Head, exited to Hidden Vale, entered Owl's Nest, Entered Owl's Nest Mine, explored through the tunnels to Owl's Head Sewers, Ravensmoor Sewers, Kingsport Sewers, exited the underground and clicked the boat from Kingsport to Ardoris/Novia, then ran to Brightbone Pass. I never got a black screen until I tried to enter the control point.
Steps to Reproduce: See above. Tried to exit to menu/resume - Still there, Close game and relog - Still there, Exit and relog in Single Player Online - Still there. Not sure how I can reproduce if I can't proceed and do anything different.

*EDIT* More info that I just noticed - I now have the "Encumbered" debuff showing, both in the top right corner and under my character name... yet when I open my character sheet, my weight shows 189.3/368.3 so I am clearly not overweight. I didn't have this showing until I got the black screen so could be related?

 

I had the black screen three times trying to get back to Solace Bridge. I succeeded when entering it from the north side (?????)
Can't do anything with the black screen, have to log off.

 

I got this as well. I do not know if this is related or not but I noticed on my machine, and in the screenshot above, that when I get the "Black Screen of Death" I also am tagged as Overweight, even though I'm not. May be something conflicting in this area?

 

Repeated testing => confirmed. You CANNOT enter Solace Bridge from the south. Black screen - the S key backs you out to Novia, but the black screen persists.
Definite blocker. Entering from the north is fine.
