I generally like the look of camera effects but the color is too much. Look at the occlusion around my avatar and the cabinet. It's way too red. If the saturation of the effect was reduced (like 50%) it wood look a lot better.

Can you not reduce the effect with settings?

Currently, you can only enable or disable camera effects.

Reduce the color saturation bar under "video"...

That reduces the saturation for the entire scene, not just the camera effects.

I fear it's a linux quirk. But I'm unable to test right now and in general. I have serious performance issues, I've been PEACHPITted already, and Camera Effects and Shadows must be turned off to be even able to move... :(

On Windows, this setting 'Camera Effect' is what I turned off to make night not impossibly dark :) I wish I knew what 'camera effects' were exactly..

EDIT: is that what that setting is called? rereading the thread properly, and I see I commented on not quite the same thing :) so pass me by!

Below is a pic from my phone that shows what camera effects is trying to accomplish. Note how the orange color of the pen is somewhat reflected onto the surface that it rests. This is what camera effects is trying to do but it's too heavy-handed (see the screenshot in my OP).
