Can I request exposing some of those actions to be called via script (instead of read only), so I can map controller buttons to them? E.g. wasd, jump, use, toggle battle, cycle (primary/ secondary) menu item, use (primary/ secondary) menu item, swap deck. Certain adv. use case are missing is okay, just intend to cover a basic game play experience. E.g. Stardew Valley's menu is fully controller navigate-able. And also lets us to make controller-friendly custom menus like other games e.g. inventory mgmt via controller only is possible.
