Can't leave the Oracle Colossus Area (On Overworld)

Details: On the overworld map I followed a path that took me to the Oracle Collosus (Area: Novia (Novia) Loc: (-15.6, 16.5, -45.3)). I was able to walk up the path so that I was at the edge of the mountains overlooking the lava (looking west). I turned around to leave the area. When I got to the above location, I was heading east trying to follow the path down to the andy area. I must have hit a steep ledge in the path as I wasn't able to move past the noted spot in the path. If I tried to move forward, I just slid along the crease in the path. (If you enter the Oracle Colossus, you can get out of the area. Leaving the Oracle Collossus scene puts you far enough down the path that you aren't trapped by the environment.)
Steps:
* Head to Blackblade Mountains on the Midmaer side (near Kiln)
* Find the path that takes you to the Oracle Colossus
* Head up that path until you reach the lava (the end of the path)
* Turn around and go back down the path to the sandy area
* you should get stuck trying to get back to the sandy area
