I find this to be so darn annoying.... Every time I go to a place where there are guards or npcs at battle, like the outskirts etc, they make horrible cowering noises .... I hate it so much, I turn the darn sound off .... Wish they would change it, and soften the sound a LOT ...

My wife thought I was watching a porno when I ran through siege outskirts (and Ardoris I think).

I'm not always wearing headphones, so I would like the sounds to be changed as well.

I'm curious if the new sound engineer creates the sounds, and/or whether she also sets up the rules.

Went went a long time without a lot of sound polish.

+1000000000000000! It gets really unbearable when you are around a bunch of them, they sync up, and it's a cacophony of, "Huh, heh, huh, ah, eh!" It is REALLY annoying!

One thing that doesn't help is that the audio's volume based on proximity is out of whack for certain things; like hearing the wooden platforms break in the Highvale Outskirts when the nearest destructible is in the horizon.

But, yeah, the cowering sound is annoying.

i agree on the overlapping. one whimpering isn't too bad but a bunch of them is quite an experience.

Oh, so much AGREEEEEEEEE with this!
I detest all the guard sounds... they either sound orgasmic or like a defiant 6 year old: *sticks tongue out* "Nyaaaah!!! Nya-nya-nya-nya-nya-nya-nyah!" Is this supposed to be taunting? o_O It's definitely annoying!
These are soldiers, shouldn't they sound a bit more gruff? The bandits sound far tougher.

PLEASE update the sounds for guards and soldiers.

Yes this and various other NPC noises are truly bad. Hopefully the Devs will get them sorted in the run up to release....

I was initially disgusted in the sieges when it seemed like only the female mercenaries whimpered and cried. I finally heard a male do it after 60 sieges. Now I'm just disgusted that any mercenary whimpers and cries. (Still overwhelmingly by females).

Yep, Ardoris can be pretty taxing as I feel like I am wandering through a porno. The Norgard Mercenaries can still sound that way(though they have been toned down).

this guy does great voices lol. I know we aren't getting character actors, but wow to have the bandits and npcs sound awesome rather than so very irritating in our game. Also if anyone has listened to any of the plays the community has voice acted, we have so many awesome voices out there such as Womby, Lord Baldrith, Asclepius, Doctor, Amber Raine, Cordelayne, and so many others, sorry not trying to miss anyone but it is really awesome to hear everyone.

In my opinion it is better that the NPC's have comments instead of strange sounds. Like occasional thought provoking comments about a lost daughter *oh where can she be* *sighs*. I mean if they bump their head or connect with a blade an *umph* or some sound not over done.

Like this guy says asault, asault *oomph*

Well it was more difficult to find sound examples than I thought, but definitely we need some more work on ours. I do keep the sound on in the game and I see a lot of opportunity for environment sound to improve along with how the npc's make sounds verses just a random comment with long times between. I do like an occasional Woo Hoo from vendors, that is cute. I am happy that we did get some voicing though. At first it was thought that we would not. Now to just adjust that to be more interesting verses irritating. ;) I am one who loves to play music in game and sync music when I get the chance so I do keep my sound on. Those bandits make me re-think this quite often ;).
