I remember in earlier builds when fighting Torc'Dawl, he would follow me out into the sea if I tried to escape him. I found this kind of fun, and liked the image of a troll in the sea scooping up ships from a harbor and smashing them into the waves.

I've noticed also the clockwork dragon doesn't leave his small island. Which would make sense if he were visibly chained there, but he's not.

In certain cases, I'm guessing we want a boss never to leave his den, both because he'd have no interest in chasing after people and also because it might be too exploitable if he's guarding something valuable. However, I think allowing some bosses a range outside of their lair is fun, even if it allows them to attack players in vulnerable positions, like when they're swimming in the water and are sitting ducks. The players would have to know when and how to escape.
