I know this must be a super simple thing. But after being in /party chat or whispering someone how do you get back into regular zone/say chat?
It's been mentioned that opening a new chat window and close the old one with the party/whisper seems to work. And it does.
The /L is working now really well Greymarch. You do /P for party but you probably know that. It's all a bit of a pain and at least the /L is working this release
Yep.. /l - (which stands for local chat by the way). /w - whisper /p - party you can't capitalize, and you can't spell out the whole word, or it won't work.
Also /g for guild. Plus all of this and soooo much more in the quick sheet https://www.shroudoftheavatar.com/forum/index.php?threads/quick-reference-card-sheet-for-sota.14285/
Thanks. I actually stumbled on it like 5 min after making the post but figured I'd leave it up to help any other poor sods with the same problem. I was trying to use /local and that was getting me nowhere I seem to recall waaaaaay back in like R5 or something there was a way to click on that little chat bubble to the left of the text window and select from a drop-down. Did I hallucinate that? Or am I just bringing TSWs chat system into the game somehow...
On the chat tab there is a little yellow arrow pointing down. Click on that and you will get a drop down box with many boxes to check or uncheck and filter your chat feed. What I like to do is use two separate chat tabs. Chat tab 1 with Local, Party and Whisper feeds checked and the rest are unchecked. Chat tab 2 has only the combat logs checked. Keep the Chat 1 visible and then swap over and scroll through the combat log while training or when something interesting occurs during a fight. Is this what you mean regarding "little chat bubble to the left of the text window"?
I'll have to try your system. Last release much of the chat wasn't working for me. I have always thought you should be able to separate your chat with other players with the games combat words and NPC words being so noisy so you couldn't find where someone had said something to you. How often does a person say 'hmmm let me see if someone spoke to me a mile back in the text', and then scroll up to see.
