Chat Room 24 Hour Suspension on 12/4/13

    I understand that some recent decisions we have made have upset some of you and even turned some of you against each other. I completely understand why you would feel the way you do, and how these feelings are driving the uncivil behavior we see in the chat room. Regardless of how justifiable our feelings are, we expect our community to maintain civility and respect in their discourse.

    When we see deviations from this we will respond swiftly and decisively. We are turning off chat for 24 hours to provide a cooling off period. After the cooling off period, we hope that everyone will be able to discuss their concerns in a calmer, healthier, more respectful manner.

    If not, then we may have to extend the cooling off period to 48 hours, and if that still doesn't return civility to our chat room, we may have to consider permanently closing it down.
