CHICKENS

i want to raise chickens, i need eggs, meat, and feathers. make it kinda like the potting planters only as an incubator, turn the eggs a few times, and they hatch. Then feed them in a small pen until bigger, let outside to roam around, harvest when needed. No dirty looks from towns people this way, for some reason i feel they shun me killing there chickens, lol. who knows.

 

No of course there are no dirty looks. This is a long time request from players. Remember you are playing a sandbox and all kinds of things are important. So when requested earlier it was about performance and things like pet limit issues and coding etc. So as we are getting past some of this perhaps at least little chicken pens that don't affect the performance and the pens are where you collect the eggs. I love the idea. perhaps we have worms to feed the chickens and food scraps.

 

Make sure they are free range chickens. No mass chicken farms!

Duck feathers - if they would differentiate between the different fowl.
Also for meat and eggs.

Yes, more code for the devs when they are already swamped with bugs.

 

If we where still in beta i would agree, first make it run then make it pretty, then go public, as long i see no picture of an gun held to the devs to go public (or paperwork of similar kind) I have to guess that they thought it was ripe for release.

I am pretty patient, as long people do not tell me they are done working on things and then they only do in a fashion.

I paid by now over 500$ for Sota, that is more than i spend on "commercial" games, and i am an small fish regarding founding.

My expectations where not that high (it still is an crowdfunding) but I have the feeling Devs are working on too many ends to make progress on the important bits.

I play games still in beta that have higher quality where it really counts, and i spend 10-20$ on them.

They are not "as big" but fun because the basics are near to flawless, not as elaborate, but that should come as soon the foundation is rock solid.

I love the idea behind sota, I think there is lots of great stuff in it already, people i meet there are for the biggest part nice, it is the small but important things where it become not fun anymore for me.

 

So I think if we did get chicken pens they should not be too huge so many players could have them. so here are some pics I found.

I think chickens should be free roaming, Just like in DayZ.

 

While I agree the crafting system needs raising livestock and domesticating animals as a means to be self sufficient for their byproducts, there are chickens in the game that are not in an NPC town. If you find these, you can kill them without getting "dirty looks" from NPC's.

 

Nice chicken coops.
In Soltown and Etceter there are coops, and if I happen to kill a chicken on top of one, I have to jump up there to "harvest" it.
If all we want is eggs, there should be a "loot" option on those coops. They should also be craftable or go with the various fowl "pets" that are in game.
That way we keep the pet, and gain the eggs.
