USPS to Texas from France. Glad I didn't have to pay international shipping.
So anyone from outside US got it yet ?
United Kingdom - paid international shipping - I have not received it yet.
Has there been an answer as to why, for example, people in the UK had to pay international shipping when it's coming from France, yet the USA did not and are getting it from the same place? Seems an odd way of doing it, not the original plan?
Would make sense if they shipped huge pallets from France to the USA then distributed, but its clear they were individually sent from France to USA?
Sometimes it's unavoidable. If it didn't fit it didn't fit and that being the case we don't know that the books and boxes shipped from the same locations. I wouldn't worry about it.
One of my two boxes has arrived.
This one is for Benefactor Edelman.
Value claimed at under 11 Euro.
Waiting for Founder Knight.
No explanation yet that I've seen.
I suspect, based on what I've seen, there was no plan before the beginning of this year. Just an expectation that the boxes would be assembled and shipped from the US. Late last year and early this year Portalarium shopped around and eventually chose this French company who offered the best deal.
I think they then chose to ship the rewards with funds they had, rather than confuse the process with refunds, adjustments, and requests for more payments.
There will probably be something done after the dust settles.
Maybe they can do a "Physical Goods Postmortem" livestream at some point, talk about shipping and manufacturing, and maybe give away a few of the leftover pieces that don't make up a full set. I know we've had segments dedicated to the contents themselves, but not so much about how things got printed, shipping domestic and international, what worked well and what they would do differently if they could have, etc.
In all likelyhood they expected five years ago that everything would be assembled and shipped from the US while when it eventually came down to it it came down to it being cheaper by doing it from France. This is probably all there is to it and I'm not gonna blame them for not predicting that five years ago.
Any chance that you could inform us what Email address is going to be used to send these (not the receiving, but the sending one) and what the subject line is going to be and if they are going to contain attachments? I wonder since I wouldn't want to open random emails that read 'Your shipping is on the way' from an address I don't know, containing a PDF (that's prone to catch you some malware down the line). Thank you in advance.
from what others have said, the emails didn't go out...
I didn't receive an email. Just seriously not happy with how this was handled, especially considering what folks paid for their rewards.
I also would have liked to ensure I received mine before DragonCon this weekend.
I'm not too worried, I've just been holding off reading the book until I've got the physical copy and I really want to read it, that's all. I know it'll get there in the end.
Hey Houston, did you get your box yet ? I didn't, but I see some Austin folks got theirs already....
Mine would be coming to Atlanta, but not yet.
Globalisation at it's finest.
Totally agree thats likely what happened. Always nice to have open and clear communication though, after all we did fund this project and thought we were entitled to certain info - especially related to where our money goes.
Got mine in Ohio yesterday. Was a big surprise!
They are still , to this day, forcing International Shipping on those outside of the US before they ship any items, and its still on the store.
So I'm in France and FYI got a shipping notice from Chronopost/DPD for SotA's delivery tomorrow. Another French Backer I know got the same.
(Also since it's Chronopost, we're getting tracking info here as well)
