Comet?

What if... it's a space shuttle from Ultima I, returning to the game Now we can take trips to those odd celestial bodies.

 

Yeah, I thought it felt like an awfil lot happened in a pretty short time period, too.

 

Yes. The impending comet visitation. He blasted off in a rocket to the space station. Could it have been a secret mission to document and observe? Now he cavorts with Kobalds creating who knows what amazing contraptions (perhaps a spaceship). It is said all those Kobald pipes are transferring rocket fuel to a secret underground spaceport.

 

Actually, a secret kobold spaceport would be kinda cool, especially if we can go to a new world in Ep 2

 

Have any of you noticed meteorite trails coming from the direction of the comet yet?

 

Actually, my best guess is what they're doing is that the primary means to travel between two continents will be some ship which you need to board with a ticket, you'll get this ticket w/ Ep2, unless maybe you have your own ship, which for whatever reasons has been grounded so far, and you get some type of permission to leave dock with Ep2 as well. I think the lore aspects will be pretty easy to dovetail in.

What I'm more curious about is how the lunar rifts will work between different continents, since Novia already has eight lunar rifts for the eight moon phases. The easiest solution is to have each continent each have eight lunar rifts, and use the rift that takes you to the Isle of Storms to let you traverse continents somehow (as some have suggested). But you'd need some lore to explain why the moon "cares" what continent you're in. We know in the Ultima games that moongates appeared because a moonstone was buried underneath that spot in the ground. We could at least suppose that two of the same moonstone can exist, and that lunar rifts take you to the most proximate one. Or something to do with ley lines, or some other type of explanation.

 

Darkstarr and LB mentioned in the Livestream that is coming from the sky. Some kind of "bug". Could be related to the comet, could be related the new bees keeping profession?

 

dang it I missed the live stream. and I was home too!

Only thing keeping my boat out to the water is the tax rate on city lots.

I always thought it was a mistake putting all 8 lunar rifts in the world in EP1 but I guess we'll see how all that works out.

 

Noticeably much bigger now.

 

So being a comet.. can we expect this to fly by and then get smaller... disappear and come back in a few years? That would be cool..

Hi,
The weather's been pretty grim all over Novia today but there have been patches of clear sky and I can see most of the moons and planets...but where has the mystery Comet gone?
Is it simply below the horizon? I'm not sure this would be the case as its been constantly visible in the heavens for a great many days.

Does the Ordinis Astronomical Society have a view?

Not accurate... I haven't been able to nail down the orbital period, but it definitely orbits... Last night it was right on the Western horizon... We'll see when it reappears.

 

You know I've more or less had my fill of determining orbital times.. someone else can handle this one. (before anyone gets any ideas)

 

Not sure on the direction, but I HAVE seen a few meteorites shooting across the sky. Basically two types... one is a VERY FAST yellowish blur that randomly occurs, the other are the longer trailing ones with the meteor flashing on occasion (this is the one used for the time around Release for what became Quel Shardfall). However, where the Quel showers were in yellows and oranges, the current Comet ones are blue-tinted.

So far they have been few and far between.
