    Greetings and Salutations!

Lord British has a request to make of you, his Royal Subjects.? We are in the process of defining the new titles for new tiers and would like your input!? Our current thoughts are to add the prefix Royal to many of the Kickstarter only titles, making the basic title available to any new pre-launch pledges.? We would like to know what you think of that!

And then, there are a few titles that just didn't seem to work with the Royal Prefix, like Lord (and have been left blank in the chart below).? So we would like some feedback as to what titles should be given to new backers for those tiers.

We are also open to considering new names for the existing tiers.? For example, during the Kickstarter campaign, some players suggested that "Lord of the Manor" be changed to "Archduke".? So if you have any suggestions for alternate titles, now is the time to share your feedback!

You can view the chart of titles on the homepage at: https://www.shroudoftheavatar.com/?p=23117

I'm quite happy with the current titles, so didn't like the idea of changing any of them. Also got stuck on the final one. Hope this doesn't rattle any cages :D

    Immortal Adventurer: Adverturer
    Founder: Settler
    Knight: Squire
    Lord: Sir/Ser
    Baron: Captain
    Duke: Noble
Lord of the Manor: Lord (why not give them a lesser title for arriving late? :p)

*Added note* ~ Kickstarter backers will be able to chose between the base title or the new "Royal" prefixed title.

So not to worry @Anjel. :)

    The knight is the trickiest..

Knight Commander or Commander Sir/Dame might work.. Knight Marshal, Marshal Sir..

some sort of designation of a commanding/leading knight would be good.

I like the High suggestion for the others. First isn't bad, but it reminds me of forum posts where people respond with FIRST! which.. tis silly.

I like the settler for founder, and just drop immortal off adventurer. or change it to a different kind. Late adventurer, cowardly adventurer.. oh those sound too insulting okay. hmm.. tenacious or advanced or something like that.

Some alternates to perhaps work in, maybe taking something a halfstep down from the original rank into something else ( like a Baron on Kickstarter becoming Baronet for people who came in after)

Marquis, Count or Viscount - coming in under the Duke from KS

Squire/Esquire - people at the Knight level coming in after KS

Baronet - the post KS Baron

I do like the First prefix for the KS titles, so First Lord, First Baron, First Duke, First Knight. The new pledges can be the same without the First prefix.

    Immortal Adventurer (KS), Adventurer (New)
or, Immortal Explorer (KS), Adventurer (New) (explorer denoting adventuring into unknown regions, as in the uncertainty of Kickstarter)
    Founder (KS), Settler (New)
I really dislike Lord of the Manor. Too wordy. I prefer First Archduke (KS) and Archduke (New)

Anyone else agree that a Knights title should be: Sir/Dame?

Just a thought, wouldn't a Royal Citizen be your bottom tier Noble?

I like @LemmingOfEvil's "Count" idea, it's high enough up the tiers to prevent a bombardment of Count Von Somethingorothers roleplaying vampires.

I'm also throwing a request out there for religious titles - maybe earned in-game as it doesn't quite fit with current tiers. I'm not religious at all but the idea of roleplaying a religious character always appeals to me. Father Anjelous: Willing to tend your wounds... or bash yer head in, if the gold is plenty.

@Anjel, LOL - why not give them a lesser title for arriving late?
    Late Knight
    Slow Baron
    Lagging Lord
    Diddle Daddle Duke

Explorer seems kind of generic, how about:

    1) Royal Scout

    2) Royal Cartographer

    3) Royal Trailblazer

Feedback for tiers is that it is more than adequate and attractive and many levels... It's especially great how you can upgrade along the way, which I have done and may do once more. :)

@Nightwolf, yes I agree the Knights title should be Sir instead of Knight.

As for better fitting titles for ranks where Royal does not sound right, I'd try just finding a fitting prefix, like Prime, Valorous, Brave or Honored.

    examples:
    Brave/Valorous Sir/Dame
    Honored Lord/Lady
    Honored Baron/Baroness
    Prime Duke/Duchess
    Prime Lord/Lady of the Manor

I also very much like @jondavis' suggestions though.

I like the idea to honour the ks pledgers with a special prefix to their title. Royal, High or First are all good suggestions. Personally I would prefere First or High because this sounds more neutral and gives more scope for rping.

As well would I suggest to rename the Edelmann/Edelfrau title to a corresponding english version e.g. nobleman/noblewoman. Imho a german title (Btw I am german ) sounds and looks somewhat odd compared to the other titles.

    Greetings Duffrey

Adding my comments on the home page to this thread:

Here are some ideas for the old and new tiers: kickstarter then post kickstarter

Lord of the Manor: King/Queen of the Realm ? Prince/Princess of the Realm
    Duke: Duke/Duchess ? Marquess/Marchioness
    Baron 2: Earl/Countess ? Baron/Baroness
Knight (Sir/Dame): Templar Knight or Crusader Knight or Mythic Knight ? Knight
Immortal Adventurer: Immortal Adventurer ? Mortal Adventurer
Pioneer: Ancient Pioneer ? Modern Pioneer

I think allowing early pledges a suffix title would be easier. Perhaps one they can fill in. Sir Gunga Din of _____. Duke Gunga Din of ______.

Royal Artisan vs Artisan isn't that big of a deal. Adding a suffix option would really add some value to early pledges.
