    I never played UO...

    ...there, I said it.

It occurred during a time in which I steadfastly refused to "lease" any game that I could never own outright.

I have a great respect for the credentials and authority held by many of the most influential patrons of these forums. Especially so, given the overwhelming acceptance extended to those without. Your dedication, passion and ongoing contributions towards ensuring SotA becomes a respectable descendant of the Ultima bloodline is remarkable and truly admirable.

While I regret not possessing an equivalent pedigree, I appreciate being able to be an active participant, and hopefully you'll forgive my admitted shortcomings.

Looking forward to R20 and beyond...

That's ok. Me either. My dad would've given me a personal lesson in pvp if I'd dared trying anything online at the time. I dislike pvp.

I never played UO (just U4 through U6 and Martian Dreams) either for the same reason. I refuse to buy a game and then pay monthly for the opportunity to play it.

I've never played an Ultima in my life. I played a few weeks of UO.

I don't think it matters, we can still contribute to making SOTA a great game.

I never even played Ultima. I found SotA because of Spoony's interview series with Richard.

I have never played UO, and my favourite Ultima game was Ultima 8. How's that for a confession!

Never played any of the Ultimas since they were (for the most part) games that ran on Windows. Now there's a GOG.com version of Ultima 4 and Ultima 7 (that I've dabbled with) on the Macintosh but I grew up expecting better UIs.

The whole concept of Ultima 4 is brilliant, though so I'm here because I like the IDEA of Ultima; now the question is: will the execution be any good?

With that said, don't let any of the veterans dictate whenever you're right or wrong; their experiences can provide some insights but nothing more.

I've been in UO since beta, still paying/playing. And to me, it gives me no better insight to the developement of this game then anyone else's gaming experience. While SOTA has been classsified as a "spiritual" successor to the Ultimas (UO included), I prefer it NOT to be UO2, but it's own unique game with LB's and Darkstarr's influence.

And I feel it's headed in that direction, which is why I backed it.

I'm open to ALL idea's, not just those that scream UO.

    There I said it.....;)

Ultima 8 is okay. Ultima 9 your reputation would plummet like a lead swan.
(terrible story aside, I actually quite enjoy the game but don't tell anyone)

Hmm. I then have to admit that while I played UO a fair amount, I never played any of the Ultima series.

Having a background in computer games and/or MMORPGS and to some extent tabletop RPGs might be helpful in testing SotA. But, then again, we all started somewhere. I have seen posts here from people that somehow wandered into the forums with little concept of gaming at all ... and posted intelligent insightful comments. And then there are some of us old veterans that can blather on endlessly and have nary a coherent thought.

Which reminds me, the problem with gamers these days is no commitment! Why in my day we had to game in the snow, uphill in the dark with no monitor or mouse and we were better for it.. and.. uh .. zzzzz

zzz.. What? Get off my lawn!

Anyone remember getting U7 to work on their 486/33? Messing around with the autoexec.bat and config.sys jigging your UMB's and LMB's to figure out what would load where - all to get your soundblaster and mouse drivers loaded (and working!) at the same time :p
