Do you prefer that Conversationalists path around randomly or stay exactly where placed?

    Hey guys -- I'm just looking for some quick feedback about a particular feature of most Conversationalists. We've had some complaints that most of them path around. We're considering permanently removing the random pathing abilities for the conversationalists. Please indicate if you'd prefer they stay put/do not path, or if you would prefer they randomly path around as they currently are. I've added a third option for requesting a mix of both.

    Keep in mind, there'll be some varieties of these that will never path, such as trolls and dragons, which will be arriving to the store on one of the Fridays in December.

    Keep in mind, we know people also have requested the following wishlist items, but this is not a poll about these features:
    • Make them functional as POT NPCs
    • Give them all commands like pets (Stay, Patrol, Dance etc)
    • Make improvements to their conversation system
    • Allow for creation of planned patrol routes
    • Enhance for player created quests (rewards, tracking etc)
    • Expand the amount of allowable characters
    • Provide the ability to perform emotes triggered by conversation prompts
    • Rename and assign script capabilities when Inky is placed already

    Since it can be disabled, is the actual question, "which should be the default behavior?"

    Or, when you say, "something that can easily be disabled for each" do you mean "something that can easily be disabled for each on the dev side of things, such that they will only ever do one or the other?"

    Clarified. Yes, pathing, not pathing, or a mix of varieties available. Not giving them all pet command abilities (yet), as indicated in the wishlist list as a known desired feature.

    I would prefer and option to set the conversationalist to either pathing or standing still. I'm currently writing up some dialogue for 2 npc's I have in mind for 2 different lots. One I'd like for the npc to be wandering around the house. The other one I would like for them to just stay in place outside one home.

    All of creation of Planned patrols YES PLEASE :) all of the above gets my excitement up.

    Also @Elgarion please add these same options to existing pot NPC's would love to have my Town Guards patrol and ability to give them conversations as well as the above to bring more life to town.

    On another note it would be cool from the PVP prospective like old UO to have guards attack PVP players if they are seen. This would than add another fun element to the game for using guards.

    This is how I feel also - sort of like how you can right-click on a Deco Pet, and select its behavior.

    also would be sweet if they had a generic one that could be dressed with armors too. they have the tech already for mannequins.

    I'd prefer an option to either path or not for the conversationalist, rather than selling multiple versions of the same. I already feel like mannequins and conversationalists are overrunning the crown shop, rather than just being patterns that can be applied to a base item (town NPC, conversationalist, vendor, and mannequins could all use the same patterns).

    I'm a bit confused at this poll because I thought they already had a choice between stay and patrol. I know my ghost and beggar do and I have one set to each option. Any conversationalist that are possible to make patrol should have this choice because I can't understand why they wouldn't be able to just stand still.

    Are you sure those complaints about the conversationalists moving around aren't just complaints about the bug that seems to sometimes spawn the ones I have at the front edge of the property instead of where I placed them?

    (and yes I want ALL of the future abilities added to conversationalists, I just don't understand why an existing option would be removed)

    I like the pathing, but they do tend to walk thru buildings and objects and stuff.

    I think ideally, it would be a player toggle if possible. The idea that I'd have to purchase the same asset again if I want to just give it a different behavior feels a little like a weak money grab, even if that's not the case.

    This direct getting/giving input should be the model for most all things "changed/added" in SotA.

    Tell us what you Devs are considering and get our feedback. That way we know what's coming and you know what most of us prefer ahead of the fact !

    Would save us ALL from a lot of headaches - both you devs and we players.

    A big thanks for doing this, @Elgarion - and MAY IT BECOME THE NORM as much as possible !
