4.Details: I just received the Courage can be frigid quest from Esmeralda. I got to the mystical looking-glass room, but when I click on the one on the floor it tells me that ''You do not have the required knowledge''. In one corner of the looking-glass my cursor turns green and when I click on that location it tells me in chat that ''You do not have the proper essence shard to pass through'' even though I have the ghostly echo essence in my inventory.
5.Steps to Reproduce: Go to floor mystical looking-glass and double click.

I have the exact same problem. I sold the Frostgeist and elder Frostgeist skulls that where in my inventory before going to the final mirror. Could this be the problem?

 

No, the non quest item skull are not needed, they are just a deco reward. The actual quest items you give to her are quest items and they cannot be sold.

Any way to get around this without using the mirror?

Same problem here. This is a couple hours after resetting my characters quest progression due to being stuck on this quest by accidentally completing the steps 2 and 3 before step 1. I reset and went through everything step by step this time, got the essence from the echo last. Went back to the room and still the same. Ive been working on completing this since yesterday now D:

My screen looks identical to Fauxpas.

I think that if you want to have the Banner of Courage, you need to be able to finish this questline.

 

Just happened to me
"You do not have the proper essence shard to pass through." - I have it, "Ghostly echo essense"
Strangely, the Ghostly echo essence that seems to be required has a value of "1" when quest items should be 0, dunno if this is related

Can you actually use all 3 of the mirrors? Not the large one, the 3 smaller ones. If you can’t actually enter one of them, then you haven’t given her the skull quest item needed for all of the 3 mirrors.

Might give that a try. I got stuck at this point as well when I created my new Spear Dude, this was a while ago. However, I went back to the mirror room and tried all 3 mirrors, but noticed one of them I couldn’t go through. I then checked all my quest items and noticed I had actually forgotten to turn in one of the skulls.

 

Had exact same happen to me today on my alt. All through questline esmerelda was buggy and seemed to go 1 step ahead .
After handing in frostgeist skull she gave us step 2 then completed it without killing elder frostgeist., later i killed it and handed it in and she then also completed the hexe step. I think thats whats bugging it is you need the hex on you when you go through mirror.
