Dead and stuck forever

    Perhaps the entrance door (the one the Avatar used to enter) of the CP should not close that fast. It it remains open, or allow to pass through (not the other door, just the one used to enter) then the issue of dying in the mid of the CP will be greatly eased without any, as far as I know, possible abuse.

    The bug is there is no ankh, should have reported it there.

    Once I closed a door on myself and died to a skeleton inside. I was stuck for probably 15 minutes before I logged off and logged back on. Not sure if there is a better way for the game to handle this. I like the fact that people can't just scout as ghosts.

    The no passing through doors is there to keep hard to reach content. . .hard to reach, like in the instance of dungeons, that I agree with.

    That said a "release" (i.e. I give up button) option/menu instead of waiting till R36 to auto release on the game's time would be nice

    Vertas doesn't have an Ankh inside the gates, but it has a way around the pass. Go by the troll, if you die to him at least your not behind the gate.
    Eastreach has an Ankh inside the gates, but no way around the pass (without doing some funky jumping that they've fixed).
    Brightbone can be avoided by using the other two passes.
    Nightshade has no gates. Just run or swim thru.


    The passes feel correct to me.

    A 15 min respawn time is for sure a bug though. You should release after a few minutes. 3-5 roughly. I haven't timed it officially.

    I'm kinda amused at this, since Quenton was a ghost who was wrongfully murdered in Ultima 6, and later shows up in Ultima 7 too. You're continuing the great tradition! :p

    Seriously though, worst case, there should be an option to put in a ticket for a GM to move or res you if you get stuck like that.

    OK, I have proven that you can, as a ghost, travel from the control point at Brightbone Pass to an ankh.

    Step 1:

    Step 3:
    Drop down and follow the indicated path.

    That will take you to one of the exits, and an ankh:

    Just to be clear, the issue wasn't that there wasn't an ankh inside (as some have correctly pointed out, that doesn't make sense to put one on the control point), but that if ghosts could go through doors, it wouldn't be an issue (especially since you can't res on the point). In UO's dungeons there were doors that you could walk through as a ghost, and it never mattered. I don't think we've seen any real evidence that it matters here either, and I don't think we've seen whether it's intentional to blocks ghosts out or not - doors just happen to be objects in this engine, and you can't really walk through anything yet (except ankhs).

    You can walk through NPCs and PCs alike, tho.

    should be fine - i'd personally disagree with your ghost leaving the scene as your body has worldly items to bind you there till you res, however. unless if walking to the boundary triggers a (if less than 60 seconds as ghost, then wait till that tick and load you at the ankh - if over 60 seconds as ghost, load to the ankh immediately)

    If the doors didn't automatically close after you.. then there also would be no issue.

    Or if, when you res it put you back at the entrance ( side you entered on ) then their would be no fear of skipping a CP. That seems to be the concern.

    At Vertas Pass, I believe you can jump over the wall of the North gate as a ghost. I've been there done that, it's no big issue, but kind of sad that you can skip the CP going North in this fashion. Going South, it works good because you have to jump back to where you started, but you still aren't 'stuck' in either case. I've done this in this release, so I'm sure it's possible.
