Death Magic Issue

    Title: Death Magic Issue
    Reproduction Rate: 100%
    Blocker? no
    Details: Since the latest patch I can see that Death Magic appears to be hitting. However the mob doesn't always take the damage and my character doesn't always get healed even though I can see the numbers over the mob. It's not translating into reality and my character gets no increase to HP and the mob doesn't lose hp.
    Steps to Reproduce: Use Death Touch and Death Ray.
    User Specs:
    OS: Windows 10 (10.0.0) 64bit
    CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4820K CPU @ 3.70GHz (8) System RAM: 32687
    GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770 GPU RAM: 2017
    SotA.EarlyAccess.Win.64.450.Date.07.28.16
    Area: VertasPass
    Loc: (346.5, 22.3, 154.0)


    Whatever got changed during that last patch isn't applying my combat damage (and I don't get healed by death magic). I get killed by everything.

    I am having the same issue. It seems to be casting on myself instead of the enemy.

    Oh please let me know when this one gets fixed.. I just finished up starting up Death Magic last night. I must be a fiery necromancer!

    Death Touch was definitely borked. That has been fixed. Side note, death touch and death ray will not heal you if you are targeting undead or inanimate objects.

    I can understand inanimate, but why not undead? We have to drop their undead lives to kill them; there should be some benefit. Temporarily turn them or maybe do extra damage to them?

    Because I begged and begged for this. :)

    Also, undead are not effected by poison.

    I think it's very very cool that undead is immune (DM does damage but doesn't heal) to undead magic. Makes sense. Now we just need the summoned undead to follow the same rules.

    Yes, but death magic should rather dominate undead. After all we are the undead summoners as well. I get poison; no living tissue, but sucking the life out of things is what a death mage should do and dominating the dead makes sense. Of course that is just my opinion for whatever it is worth. What is done is done.

    I agree that a Necromancer should dominate death. But I think the way death magic works (taking life) should not work vs. dead things.

    I think we're missing a "command undead" spell that would make it very easy to avoid being attacked by the undead.

    Yes that would be a nice addition to the tree. I don't think of it as much as stealing life as draining essence.

    It's definitely stealing life.

    Drain "Life" is the ability that is used in all the death magic spells. :)

    Suggest thread be locked now that patch 451 fixes the Death Touch issue. It is still missing a lot, but when it works, it works just fine.
